"Avoid this hotel at all costs, especially during the Cannes Film Festival.
We paid a substantial premium rate for a 6-night stay at Crisol Belle Epoque, a property listed as a 4-star hotel, and the experience fell dramatically below even the most basic hospitality standards one should expect at that level.
Over the course of six nights, our room was only serviced TWICE. Even then, “cleaning” consisted solely of making the bed and replacing towels. The room was never properly cleaned once. The carpets were stained, old, and fraying, the bathroom was not properly cleaned, used coffee mugs sat untouched for days, and coffee pods were never replenished throughout the entire stay. We eventually gave up and bought coffee elsewhere every morning.
We also repeatedly ran out of toilet paper and had to ask the front desk for additional rolls multiple times during the week, which is completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one advertising itself as a 4-star property charging Cannes Film Festival pricing.
One of the only times the room was “cleaned,” it was done by the front desk employee rather than housekeeping staff, which made it very clear the hotel was severely understaffed and unprepared for guests during one of the busiest weeks of the year.
The bathroom setup was also terrible. There was no proper shower barrier/glass wall for the tub, so the bathroom floor flooded after every single shower.
What made the experience even worse was management’s complete indifference. We requested to speak with management regarding our concerns and were told they would call us back. They never did. After enduring these issues for nearly a week, we requested a simple one-hour late checkout as a courtesy and were flatly denied.
At a minimum, a 4-star hotel should be able to provide consistent housekeeping, basic cleanliness, stocked toiletries and supplies, and responsive guest service. None of those minimum expectations were met here.
This hotel charges Cannes Film Festival pricing while delivering worse service than a budget roadside motel. Poorly maintained, severely understaffed, and completely lacking in basic hospitality standards.
There are countless hotel options in Cannes. Stay literally anywhere else."
