A rooftop-ready Cannes icon

Formerly the Radisson Blu 1835 Hotel & Thalasso, Canopy by Hilton Cannes has had a seriously stylish glow-up, and it’s still sitting pretty by the Old Port. You’re in the historic Le Suquet quarter, so expect cobbled lanes, viewpoint strolls and that lovely “Cannes feels cinematic” energy. La Croisette and the Palais des Festivals are a five-minute walk away, perfect for beach clubs, boutique browsing and a bit of red-carpet daydreaming.

Back at base, it’s all about living well. Head straight for the rooftop: Marea brings Mediterranean plates and signature cocktails with knockout harbour views, especially at sunset. Prefer something daytime and relaxed? Café Crème is your all-day café for coffee, baked goods and brunchy refuels between adventures. Then there’s the spa: adults-only, with an indoor-outdoor pool facing the Med, plus hammam and sauna sessions when you need a proper reset. Finish the day with a port-side wander, then toast Cannes from above. This is how you do the Riviera.

Find out more about Cannes

A sunny enclave on France’s Côte d’Azur, Cannes wasn’t always such a honeypot for the well-heeled and fabulous. Up until 1834, it was a humble fishing village, but then English statesman and philosopher Lord Henry Brougham built a grand house there. This inspired other well-to-do types to regard Cannes, with its clear waters and sublime climate, as a revitalising Victorian health destination. On Cannes city breaks nowadays, you’ll find it still draws a jet-set crowd, who visit upscale boutiques before returning to their super yachts and flashy sports cars. Moreover, since Brougham’s day, Cannes has become a magnet for Hollywood stars – the best and brightest of which arrive each May for the city’s now world-famous film festival.
