"€670/night for a room that smells like a sewer!
This hotel promises luxury; in reality it smells like a public toilet. The smell followed us from the lobby (poorly masked with potpourri and a giant bouquet of lilies) into the elevator and straight into our room. Our shower drain backed up and FLOODED the stall, bringing debris up with it — disgusting. The sewage odor pours through the AC vents and permeates the entire room and bathroom. It was so nauseating we couldn’t sleep. Opening the windows to let the room air out didn’t do much. Avoid room 314 at all costs, although based on other reviews, many rooms have this issue.
And the “luxury” hotel? Stained hallway carpet, peeling paint, damaged bathroom walls, and a toilet paper holder literally falling off the wall exposing bare paint underneath. This hotel is styled for Instagram and nothing else — in person it is neglected and falling apart.
We paid for a partial sea view room. A small view of the sea was possible from the balcony of you crane your neck.
I complained to the front desk about the sewer odor in our room and asked for a partial refund. The agent completely ignored my complaint, didn’t ask a single question, didn’t offer to call a manager, didn’t apologize — I was persistent in expressing our experience and eventually he just said he’d “make a note.” That’s it. Like he was hoping I’d get tired and walk away. I paid 670 EUROS for that treatment.
This is not a one-time fluke — other reviews describe this exact same sewage smell going back YEARS. The hotel knows and does nothing. Beautiful location, completely ripped off on price. Never again.
Edited July 13:
- I sent an email notifying staff around 11:30pm while I was staying in the hotel, not after I departed.
- I was informed at check-in no other rooms in my room class were available and I would have to wait until 3:30pm check in time for my room. Even if other rooms were available to move to, I’d have to pack and re-pack my belongings at midnight to change rooms which would be an extreme inconvenience when we had to wake up at 5am flor our flight the next morning and needed sleep.
- The employee at the front desk spoke English perfectly well when it came to collecting my payment. But when I explained my concerns to him he conveniently didn’t understand. I asked for a manager and he completely ignored me. I then translated to French that my room “smelled like poop” and he blankly looked at me and said he’d note my account. So, I’m not surprised to read your comments below claiming you weren’t notified when your staff pretends to not speak English and completely ignores complaints.
- your staff responded to my email on July 3 saying they would do an investigation and get back to me. It is now July 13 and I’ve heard no reply.
- I expect a reply to email by July 16, or I will escalate the situation to your corporate office and my credit card company.
I stand by my review. How dare you charge €670/night for rooms that smell like sewage and staff who ignore complaints. I paid a 5-star hotel price for a 1-star experience."
