Sultan Gardens Resort Sharm El Sheikh

"What can I say? I do not normally write reviews but this hotel has surpassed our expectations. After our booking was completely messed up by On The Beach, Sultan Gardens sorted everything out and came up trumps. This is honestly a fantastic hotel. The staff from the gardeners, life guards, waiting staff, chefs and all the managers are fantastic. Could name staff but would run out of room. Beach and pool areas are spotless, food and drinks fantastic. if you have any issues just ask and it will be sorted. We have been coming to this hotel on and off for twenty years and have seen many changes and all for the good. They actually do a loyalty scheme which works. The Brits will return because word soon gets around. Could do with a quiet drinks area on an evening. Thank you Sultan Gardens see you next year."

"I've just got back from my first visit with my husband and our 1 year old daughter to sharm el sheikh and stayed at Sultan Gardens. And we absolutely loved it. The hotel is nice and clean. All areas are well kept. The staff are so kind and friendly. They were all very welcoming and would always make an effort to interact with my daughter, which was nice. It was also my daughter's first birthday and I asked the hotel to arrange a small slice of cake decorated on a plate for her, which they so kindly did for us without any hesitation. I have read some of the reviews about bad WiFi and non English speaking workers however I found the WiFi to be exceptional (my husband was so impressed it worked down at the beach too) and I didn't have any problems communicating with staff in English. The waiters/kitchen staff were always friendly and helpful. We had booked a pool view room and upon arrival the hotel staff kindly upgraded this to a sea view room which was lovely. I would say there was only two small down sides to my stay. One was that I didn't realise until I got there that the hotel was so big and we needed to get a minibus to the different locations in the complex. There was also a lot of stairs to get to our room and in and around the hotel, for example to get to the beach. Which, with a 1 year old and a pushchair and all the other bags and whatnot you need with a baby made it very difficult to get around. The other downside was because I hadn't been given a time for my transfer pickup (this was arranged with my travel agent, not the hotel). I asked the reception staff if I could call them to find out and they told me as it wasn't a local number I would be charged for the call which I thought was utterly ridiculous. However the manager did sort this out for me and call them himself so I wasn't charged."

"Airport transfer was late and was obviously someone's brother's car... not a proper hotel car with a uniformed driver. This is a security concern. Check in was OK but despite later arrival and prior notification, the room was not ready. This is 100% avoidable. Room was nice. Sea view and everything worked. Internet was spotty, with very frequent outages. Beach was nice and clean and the swimming areas were very nice. Food was good and they did a nice job trying to create variety for long staying guests. Nevertheless after 4 nights I'd had enough... but the quality was OK. Good coffee availabe at the place in the lobby and we only found out on the 2nd last day that we could get that coffee at our table for breakfast if we asked. Unfortunately no set-up for take-away coffee. Would have been nice to be able to take a latte back to my room. The biggest (and really only big) problem was after check out... we were not allowed to leave until somebody checked our room! We were held up at the gate. This is crazy and untrusting and really shameful behavior which left a very bad impression as we tried to depart. Obviously there's room for process improvement in that area. Most guests were Russian or CIS and the staff did a great job with language for them. Gym open only limited hours which were not convenient so I didn't use it. I asked for it to be open early and that was "impossible"."
