"We flew with TUI from Newcastle for 11 nights on April 3rd 2026. The hotel is approximately a 20 minute drive away from Sharm airport and a walk from the hotel main reception to Soho Square takes around one minute as the hotel is located just off this area.
The hotel is absolutely fabulous - it has a classical design with ornate marble floors and beautiful well designed areas throughout. It is very serene and elegant. Check in was very efficient and a porter helped us with our luggage and escorted us to our room. We stayed in a family room which overlooked the gardens containing the small children's paddling pool and playpark. Despite this it was very peaceful and quiet. Our room was very nice (the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in) with entrance area containing wardrobe space, fridge with mini bar, safe and tea/coffee making facilities. The mini bar was restocked every day along with additional bottled water. The bathroom was off this area which contained a double shower area with rain shower and a separate body shower, a marble vanity unit with storage and a toilet area enclosed with privacy glass. Fresh towels and toiletries were provided each day. We had three large comfortable beds in the room and plenty of drawers/cupboards, a small sitting area and a dressing table with TV. There were plenty of mirrors in the room and the lighting was excellent with main lights, spotlights and lamps. There was also a large covered terraced area with comfortable seating and a light. The room was cleaned daily and sheets changed every three days (or daily by request). Each person also receives a voucher for x3 items of clothing to be laundered during their stay.
We found the cleanliness of the hotel and our room to be exemplary. The main pool area consists of three separate pools, increasing in depth which were lovely and warm. Lifeguards were on duty at all times. There is a snack bar and swim up bar next to the pools where the staff were always very efficient. The sunbathing areas are spacious and clean with plenty of beds and large parasols so no need to get up early to secure a sunbed. The surrounding gardens were beautiful and well tended. Beach towels are allocated each day and the pool staff escort you to the area you want to relax and set up the beds/parasols for you. There was a small flag attached to each parasol which you could put out if you didn't want to be disturbed which I thought was a good idea. Staff would also come around regularly to take drinks orders etc and your drinks would be delivered to you quickly.
The view from the pools was stunning as it overlooked the Red Sea. The hotel has a private beach area with sunbeds and parasols and a beach/snack bar which was very good. There are two wooden jetties to provide access to the sea and the amazing coral reef which was abundant with fish and fantastic for snorkelling. The coral is so colourful - we saw a small stingray just off the beach. There were some purple jellyfish in the water but we were informed that they don't sting - we just kept away from them and we were fine. There is also a dive school and watersport activity centre on site, as well as a kids club and a teens club (we didn't use any of these facilities as we took our own masks and snorkels and stuck to snorkelling).
We were all inclusive so all food and drinks were included. The 24hr Safari Bar was excellent and there were numerous inside/outside seating areas to sit at on an evening. Waiters would take drinks orders or you could order yourself from the bar. The waiters were very attentive and brought snacks to the table with the drinks. We found that only local alcohol was all inclusive (some were a bit iffy) but there was an option to purchase branded spirits etc, however a small Baileys cost me £15. The white and rose wine were nice and I was told that the beer was fine (no IPA/Stout though)! Cocktails/mocktails were available but again, they could taste a bit rough without an upgrade to branded spirits. Water and unlimited tea/coffee from bean to cup machines was also included.
There was a huge choice of food at each meal in the main buffet restaurant which was excellent. In addition to the main areas there were waffles/pancakes/pastries and a pizza area and barbeque area at the back of the dining area at various times of the day during meals. They had themed nights in the buffet restaurant and at breakfast an omelette/eggs station which was excellent. The chefs and catering staff in the restaurant were all very friendly, as was the front of house manager. We did find that the restaurant staff were not as attentive. Often, tables would not be set up properly with cutlery etc and we had to ask for drinks if we wanted anything other than the bottled water that was on the table. I think the staff could be a little bit more welcoming and engage a bit more but this is my only complaint.
As well as the main restaurant there were numerous additional restaurants, both on site and in Soho Square that were included in the all inclusive package. We visited the Thai, Chinese and Greek restaurants during our stay and they were all very good. We did want to try a couple of the other restaurants such as the Italian, Caligula and Hot Rocks but unfortunately we could never get booked into them (you had to book via the app but could only book the day before). The pub at Soho Square is also part of the all inclusive package too. However, the service was not great there and the staff weren't very friendly. We did use the pool table there a couple of times and watched the football. There is also a large area in the square with a big TV screen and we found the service there was better.
In terms of trips, we booked via Sun International to fly to Cairo. We visited the Giza pyramids and the new Egyptian museum (which was fab but a long day). As part of the trip we were taken to a local perfume making shop and papyrus maker which we weren't expecting. That was quite awkward as it was a bit uncomfortable if you didn't want to purchase anything but overall the trip was very good. We also booked the desert sand buggy and Bedouin meal trip which was also quite good (we'd done a similar quad bike trip in Hurghada which was longer and more exciting). Finally we did a snorkelling trip to the National Park on the VIP boat which I would really not recommend. It comprised of 2 snorkelling stops and a stop at the White Island (sand bank) with lunch included. There were literally hundreds of boats going to the same place at the same time and it was so crowded. Getting out of the marina itself took around 1.5 hours as it was so busy and the marina 'toilets' were absolutely disgusting. Our snorkelling guide made us all hold on to one small life ring as we snorkelled (even though we had life jackets on) and he towed us through the water around the reef. We were told off if we dared to let go of the ring. As there were approximately 10 to 12 people holding onto the small ring we were getting kicked and everyone was bumping in to each other and swimming across each other. It was ridiculous. We were in the water for around 20 minutes maximum at the first stop before being told to get back on to the boat so the scuba divers could get in. The second stop was basically a 20 second entry into the water for my husband (I didn't even get the chance to enter the water) over a reef which he said was just ok, before being ordered to return to the boat. We had to swim a fair distance in deep water to access the White Island. We were eventually standing in shallow water around 20 metres from the island which was packed with people. We were instructed to sit down by our guide. We thought we were waiting for our group's turn to walk onto the sand bank but after 20 minutes of sitting there, our guide informed us that we had to return to the boat so we never even got to walk on the White Island!! The boat however was lovely and the sailing and lunch were good.
To summarise, I would wholeheartedly recommend The Savoy hotel and we will definitely return at the same time of year in the future."
