Baron Palms Resort Sharm el Sheikh

"After coming to this hotel 2 years ago I came back a second time as it was a lovely resort and hotel and a very quiet and pleasant stay. I brought my partner and we are having a really great time.. it’s clean, the staff are tremendously helpful, and the food is nice, but could do better wth more catering options for all nationalities. I was told by a chef that they didn’t do pork on the menu, that is a big issue with British people regardless of faith, culture etc. at least put out the options available to all , those that don’t want it won’t have it, but the ones that do like it would really like to have food they have at home. The rooms are very good with all condiments, drinks etc topped up regularly. No milk is supplied but there is a kettle with tea, coffee etc supplied. We bought our own milk at a ridiculous price, but was needed. The beds could be a little bit more give as we found then too firm and waking up aching some mornings. A little more evening entertainment would be great as I saw on my previous stay. Overall the hotel and staff are generally very good but could still be much improved on the points mentioned above…"

"Firstly, Baron Palms Manager, please don't respond to my review with your generic response as that will be a further insult.... My husband booked this hotel/holiday as a surprise for my 40th birthday. Ironically, we were meant to go to Cape Verde instead, but changed to Egypt due to the rife food poisoning in Cape Verde! Hotel cleanliness - spotless!!! Can't fault the standards of cleaning. The rooms are a little dated. Agree with some of the other guests, the fridge and air con unit are very noisy. Food/dining - Where do I start??!! We were due to have a TUI rep meeting on our first day, but this never happened due to the rep being inundated with complaints about food poisoning. We spoke to another guest who had been ill. We then spoke to more, and more.... Tables in the main dining room rarely set at each meal time. Rarely asked if we would like a drink with our meal and if we did, it was sometimes forgotten about. The staff were running around, giving off a really chaotic feel. The food was lukewarm. I was wise to this and 'ate safe', so stuck to beige food, chips, spring rolls, pizza etc, but somehow by day 4, I was having severe stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Had to postpone a trip as I just felt dreadful. My husband (who is a Chef!), also ate safe, but started having cramps and diarrhoea on our last day, and a week after being home, he's even worse! He had to visit the GP today and do a stool sample. Glasses are washed in the tap water, then stacked up on each other, no sanitising in a dishwasher. Spirits are definitely watered down too!! We even cleaned our teeth using bottled water and avoided anything which could make us ill!!!! The Manager did note our illness whilst talking to guests around the pool, but we saw no difference. Sunbed wars - you need to reserve sunbed by 6am, otherwise you won't get one. Hate to say it, but we did do that, but only because we needed to be near a toilet!!! We have made a formal complaint to TUI and to rub salt into the wound, TUI have told us they have had NO other complaints!!! This holiday should have been a luxury 5* experience and it has been tainted for us."

"Here at the moment and have to say was anxious coming here after reading the reviews especially on the food but given this is our fourth day here I must say we have found the food delicious with so much variety to choose from and the staff can’t do enough for you the place itself is only small which is perfect for us with a lovely pool and the beach just a short walk away so would definitely have no problems returning to this hotel"
