Doubletree by Hilton Mangroovy El Gouna Resort

"We had a wonderful stay! We were looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday without a busy schedule, and that’s exactly what we got. Most of the time, we simply moved between the beach and the pool, enjoyed delicious food and took in the atmosphere. 1. The grounds and atmosphere The resort is very beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. Everything is relatively new, well-maintained and in good condition. We especially loved the greenery. There are so many beautiful plants that it really feels like being in a little oasis. The atmosphere during the day and in the evening is also very well thought out. In the evenings, there was often live music, with a singer, guitarist or saxophonist performing. It was a lovely addition to dinner and created a very relaxed atmosphere. 2. Staff and service The staff are very polite, friendly and attentive. They are always happy to help, give advice or simply have a little chat and make you smile. We would especially like to mention Tahir. He always cleaned our room very thoroughly and sometimes left lovely little decorations on our bed. And Mostafa, one of the bartenders, made some really great signature cocktails. 3. Food The food is tasty and quite varied. There is always a choice of meat and fish dishes, as well as vegetarian options. For lunch and dinner, pasta is prepared fresh to order, and sometimes they also serve freshly cooked seafood and meat specialties. There is also a good selection of desserts, with something new to try every day. The only minor downside for us was the spirits. They were quite strong and had a very distinctive taste, so we mostly stuck to beer and wine. Both were perfectly fine. 4. Pool and beach The pool and beach areas are very comfortable, and there are always enough sun loungers. Around the pools, you can choose between a more lively area near the bar or a quieter, more peaceful spot further away. If you need help finding a place, the staff are always happy to assist and make sure everything is set up for you. The beach is about a five-minute walk away, and there are also free carts running there regularly. The beach itself is well equipped, the sea is clean and clear, and the sand has some small shells mixed in. The only downside was that it was quite windy during the season when we stayed. It also takes a while to reach deeper water, around another 5–8 minutes of walking after entering the sea. However, this wasn’t a problem for us, especially since we were looking for a relaxing holiday. Overall, we were very happy with our stay. If you’re looking to switch off, slow down, enjoy good food, spend your days by the pool or on the beach and simply relax in beautiful surroundings, this resort is a great choice for that kind of holiday."

"This hotel is absolutely beautiful, stunning to look at, all their social media represents it as very zen and chilled! First impressions are WOW… but you soon spot the areas for improvement! The beach - there is a make shift bar and a food truck which looks good but no menu so you have to try to understand what’s available then when trying to eat are swarmed with tiny flys! No toilets there either! Pool area - sunbeds are packed in like sardines and only one side gets the sun so they get taken early! Music is pumping daily, really loud at times and just spoilt it! The pool bar is small and gets busy and that’s where the speaker is! They do have waiter service and we used one particular member of staff and we tipped daily but then he just didn’t ask us! Then when he did he didn’t bring my drink so gave up with that! Not sure why but disappointing service! Cannot comment on quieter pool as didn’t manage to get a bed there and you could hear building works! Food - breakfast was the same but ok, the layout needs to be thought out - ie the omelette/egg queue blocks access to sausages etc! They always run out of mugs by coffee machine. Lunch we had from the pool bar and was ok! Dinner - you needed to get there half hour before opening to get a table outside then try get a drink, wasn’t allowed into restaurant but staff didn’t seem interested in serving outside until our last night when Ahmed recognised us and brang over our drinks - thank you! Food quality was good and the pasta station was our favourite - top guy! After dinner would be nice to go sit and relax with a drink but where do you go? Yea there’s a bar with an outside area that overlooks the front of the hotel but minimal seating and soon fills up! There is sometimes a singer below the restaurant terrace but not really any seating and no bar! So a few nights we remained at our dining table which isn’t great and not really fair on people dining later that then can’t sit outside! When we sat down by the singer one night we had to go upstairs into restaurant to get a drink! We woke on the last day to the sound of building works (heard from room door and corridor) we had upgraded to pool view room and so glad we did as some people faced the back view of building works and dust! When we checked out we were handed a survey and I commented about evening seating and tried to explain to the guy on reception and was told he just gives out the survey - well yea but I’m ensuring it’s fed back and it’s like they don’t really care and the reason was oh hotels full - not an excuse! This was my 14th time to Egypt but 1st to El Gouna, the hotel is the nicest I’ve stayed at to look at but far from the best for hospitality. I don’t think they’ve factored in the evenings! Unfortunately certain nationalities do seem to get preferential treatment which isn’t how it should be. I would absolutely return to El Gouna (we walked to Marinas, went out to dinner in down town, did a speedboat island tour and a tuk tuk tour) but not to the Hilton!"

"I had a very enjoyable stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Mangroovy El Gouna Resort. The resort itself is beautiful, well maintained and located in a fantastic area of El Gouna, with a private beach, swimming pools, restaurants, bars and excellent leisure facilities. The all-inclusive concept is convenient and offers a good variety of food and drinks throughout the day. I particularly enjoyed having several different areas where guests could relax, have a drink or enjoy a snack. The private beach and pools are definitely among the highlights of the resort. The staff were generally friendly and welcoming, and there were some employees who went above and beyond to make our stay special. I would especially like to mention Salah and Khaled, who deserve special recognition for their professionalism, kindness and genuine attention to guests. Their attitude was exactly what you would expect from a hotel operating under the Hilton brand. I will add photos of them because I believe good service should be recognized publicly. That being said, I also experienced some inconsistency in the level of service. On a few occasions, I had the impression that certain members of staff were giving preferential treatment to Egyptian guests compared with foreign/international guests. This was particularly noticeable in the way attention and service were offered. I want to emphasize that this was not the attitude of everyone—far from it—but it happened often enough for me to notice and to feel that it should be mentioned. I believe that all guests should receive the same level of attention, courtesy and service regardless of nationality. This is particularly important for an international hotel such as DoubleTree by Hilton, where guests come from many different countries. Despite this issue, there were many positive aspects to our stay. The resort has a beautiful setting overlooking the Red Sea, a private sandy beach, outdoor pools and a fitness center, and the overall environment is very relaxing. Overall, I would still recommend DoubleTree by Hilton Mangroovy El Gouna Resort, especially for its location, facilities, beach and overall atmosphere. However, I hope management will pay closer attention to consistency and ensure that every guest receives the same standard of hospitality and respect."
