Small-town Croatia with sea-view swagger
This relaxed little coastal gem, in Croatia’s Zadar region, is tucked between Zadar and Biograd na Moru with the Adriatic doing its best blue-and-sparkly performance out front. It’s the kind of place that suits slow beach days, easy evening strolls and holidays where the biggest decision is swim first or coffee first.
The seafront’s the main event, with pebbly beaches, clear water and views across the Pašman Channel towards the islands. Wander the promenade, dip into beach bars, or use the town as a handy base for exploring nearby Biograd, Zadar and the wider Dalmatian coast. Boat trips are a brilliant shout here, especially if you fancy island-hopping or sneaking off towards Kornati National Park.
Food keeps things wonderfully Croatian: grilled fish, seafood pasta, black risotto, olive oil, local wine and relaxed konoba-style dinners by the water. Expect simple, fresh flavours and plenty of sunset-friendly terraces. Sveti Filip i Jakov’s ideal if you want a quieter resort with day-trip potential on tap. Beach mornings, island afternoons, harbour-side suppers – Croatia’s easy-going side is very much in residence.
