Lots of fun for little ones
Family-friendly doesn’t even begin to cover the Valamar Amicor Resort – a swish resort of suites and villas posted up just outside Stari Grad. Nestled amongst the trees, with mountain and sea views, if you’re all about experiencing the great outdoors, then this is the place to do it. And the ethos is in keeping with those natural surroundings, too. As the first family resort in the area that's been built according to principles of sustainable development, everything here has been carefully curated so as to be in harmony with the environment.
Water babies will have no trouble making a splash here, thanks to the onsite aqua park. Home to three outdoor pools and six water slides that’ll suit big and little kids alike, there's hours of splash-tastic fun to be had here. If it’s the sea that’s calling your name, there’s a petite strip of sand about four minutes’ walk away. Next door at sister property Hvar Places Hotel by Valamar, you’ll find a paved beach with a slew of loungers and a beach bar – the perfect spot for a bit of sun worshipping.
Head back into the trees, meanwhile, and alongside sports and tennis courts, the hotel has got its very own children's zipline. There’s a bumper list of family activities, too, like organised walks, cycling tours, and sports tournaments. But the real star of the show is the line-up of kid-friendly activities and facilities. Budding botanists will love the eco-garden, where they’ll find insect hotels, and fruit and vegetable patches. There’s also a soft play area, game lounge, and playground to keep the gang busy, and the hotel even lines up interactive sessions and stargazing evenings.
That’s the little ones taken care of but what about the grown-ups? There’s a full programme of activities for you, too, like aqua aerobics, yoga, and full body workout classes. And there’s an outdoor spa at the sister hotel next door where you can treat yourself to a massage or even just an afternoon spent in the relax zone.
As for the food, that’s sure to be a big hit as well. Mediterranean and Italian-inspired, breakfast and dinner are served buffet style in the main restaurant. Think fresh pizzas, homemade pastas, and salads prepared using vegetables from their very own garden. In fact 77% of the food here is locally-sourced, so you'll definitely be tucking into the real deal. Lunch is an à la carte affair, while sweet treats and coffees are doled out from the on-site pastry shop.
Please note that some sports and wellness facilities are located nearby, outside of the hotel premises, and are subject to an extra charge.
Your journey to the hotel will include a transfer from Split Airport to Split Port, where you'll wait for the next available ferry to take to Hvar Island. Just so you know, you'll need to carry your own luggage on and off the ferry, which will include a flight of steps. The crossing takes approximately 120 mins. From the port on Hvar Island, you'll take a transfer to your chosen accommodation. The same applies for your return journey. Please note, the total transfer time of approximately 3.5 hours does not include your wait time for the ferry.
