Boutique base with a Hollywood twist
Many of the hotels around Hvar’s main square have preserved the old-world opulence of yesteryear in their interiors – not this one. The stone façade of the Riva Hvar Yacht Harbour Hotel might look traditional, but head inside and you’ll find 1960s-inspired Hollywood glamour. Many of the walls are adorned with huge photographs of movie stars like Audrey Hepburn, James Dean and Brigitte Bardot, while the rest of the interiors are sleek and minimalist.
As far as location goes, it doesn’t get much better than this. You’ll find the hotel perched on the waterfront by the port of Hvar, so you can watch the glitzy yachts bobbing up and down in the water from many parts of the hotel. It’s also the starting point for catamaran trips to Split and islands like Vis and Korčula. The town square, the Hvar Public Theatre and the St Stephen’s Cathedral are within a five-minute walk, too.
Fancy a chilled day? Guests here can use the rooftop pool at The Adriana – the sister hotel, which is just a five-minute walk along the waterfront. You can also use the spa facilities while you’re there, or even treat yourself to some added pampering with a massage.
Start your day at the hotel’s breakfast buffet, where you can help yourself to the likes of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals and pastries. Hot dishes are available too and are cooked to order. You can enjoy your breakfast out on the al fresco terrace, if you fancy it, and watch the yachts as you eat. During the day, pick between The Shrimp House and the Fresh Pasta House, both open for lunch and dinner. And for drinks, the BB Club has you covered.
Your journey to the hotel will include a transfer from Split Airport to Split Port, where you'll wait for the next available ferry to take to Hvar Island. Just so you know, you'll need to carry your own luggage on and off the ferry, which will include a flight of steps. The crossing takes approximately 120 mins. From the port on Hvar Island, you'll take a transfer to your chosen accommodation. The same applies for your return journey. Please note, the total transfer time of approximately 3.5 hours does not include your wait time for the ferry.

Around the coast, you’ll find endless rocky inlets with calm, crystal clear waters, while a sprawling patchwork of lavender fields, olive groves and vineyards carpets the land around the island’s rugged, mountainous interior.
