A car-free island escape near Dubrovnik
This hotel is your “switch off properly” spot on Koločep (locals call it Kalamota), a tiny, car-free Adriatic island just off Dubrovnik. Start the day with a barefoot wander along pine-shaded paths, find a quiet cove for a swim, then hop on a boat to Dubrovnik for city-wall views, marble streets and gelato-in-hand exploring. Back on the island, it’s all about slow living here: salty hair, sun-warmed stones, and that blissful feeling of nowhere to be.
At the hotel, the headline act is the rooftop swimming pool, serving up big blue views and prime “one more dip” energy. Down at sea level, G Chelo Lounge Bar & Restaurant sits right by the water with a terrace you can roll into for laid-back breakfasts, lazy lunches and candlelit dinners featuring Croatian-inspired flavours. There’s a bar line-up too, with wines, spirits and juices for between-swim refuels. In short: Dubrovnik on tap, island calm on repeat. Come for the sea, stay for the serenity, and leave already planning your return.
