"Behind their understated front door exists a piece of paradise. This fabulous hotel lived up to the glowing reviews we read before selecting it, indeed, Hotel Supetar exceeded our expectations: quietly, efficiently, all the staff make this a wonderful place to stay, to chill, to enjoy being pampered. Maintained spotlessly clean and fresh throughout, the solid construction affords no noise transmission from other guests - and even the occasional over-flying aircraft heading to/from Dubrovnik didn't disturb the peace of our room. The entire hotel is beautifully appointed. The staff are professional, kind, thoughtful, obliging, friendly: nothing is too much trouble for their esteemed guests - really! Every single one gave their excellent service with a smile, going above and beyond.
I think the most immediate contributor to our peace of mind was the hotel having a relaxed attitude to breakfast timing. We’d left the UK very early and were concerned we may be late down the next morning. Reassuringly we were told there was no compulsion to being at breakfast by any particular time - we awoke and wandered to breakfast at our convenience to be met with a warm welcome and a first-class, fresh, delicious comprehensive buffet, your choice of offering from the kitchen. My wife asked for cranberry juice - from our second morning it was available! Breakfast was outstanding - and the buffet was fully stocked whatever time one turned up.
There are several area to relax with comfortable seating, a quiet, shady, garden; sun-beds with palm trees providing shade together with beautiful parasols on the side of the warm (heated) outdoor pool; the first floor front (dining) terrace overlooking the promenade/bay, the second floor terrace with similar views - and, adjacent, a spacious comfortable garden patio/bar at ground level - an oasis of relative calm for guests and the general public who reach the end of the hustle and bustle of the restaurants on the promenade/quay. Indoors there is seating in reception and a cool, relaxing bar...
Everything was 'just so' unless you wanted anything different - in those cases nothing was a problem.
Someone wrote on a review that this hotel is the standard from which all other boutique hotels should be measured - I concur.
Quiet, tranquil, relaxing, perfect.
Cavtat is a pretty little waterside town, the quay/roads in front become a virtual pedestrian precinct at night. There is a lot to do and see in Cavtat, and so many restaurants from which to choose. The water is crystal clear, inviting, and there are numerous points from which one can access the sea for swimming... but if you want a sandy beach - Cavtat is not for you.
Watching the boats, though, is a treat as a steady arrival of 'rental' yachts crewed by amateurs endeavour to moor stern-to... Oh, what fun!
There is an hourly water-taxi service to Dubrovnik (€15 one-way, €20 return) but do look at TripAdvisor reviews before booking... some are evidently less than professional. About 500m (level) is the small bus station where for €4 there's an excellent hourly public-service bus service too. If travelling by bus, worth noting if you want to avoid 200 irregular steps into the old town, stay on the bus at the stop where many get off (for the old town). After a few stops you arrive by a quay to the left, shops to the right. Get out there, cross the road to the quay and catch (almost any) bus 1a, 1b, 1e back the way you came (for €2.50) which dropped us right at the old town gate adjacent to the Tourist Information Office. Dubrovnik city wall costs a fortune, €40 each, one way, one entry (only). (On the plus side there are cafes up there - and a loo or two). Going back, take the 150 odd steps from
the centre up of the town to the cable-car station where can be found the bus stop for Cavtat... where your lovely hotel staff are waiting to welcome you home."
