"DREADFUL - avoid like the plague. I was severely ill within 48 hours of arriving. The breakfast buffet had flies all over the food and nothing was covered. The holiday was completely ruined as I have never been so ill. Couldn’t wait to get home - stool sample diagnosed Shigella and I am still not a hundred percent. TUI and The Hilton do not want to take any responsibility and hotel not replying to emails. Irwin Mitchell solicitors dealing with thousands of cases on island (other resorts) and Daily Telegraph reported of a 60yr old woman who died in Aug 2025 at a resort nearby. Clearly a problem on the whole island. To be honest, I am still traumatised by my experience."

"My wife and I spent a week at the Hilton Cape Verde in October 2025 and we had a fantastic time. Every holiday is unique, we all have different expectations , standards and experiences and before traveling we were unsure what to expect. Having stayed in very nice hotels all over the world, I can say with confidence that the Cape Verde Hilton is one of the very best we have ever stayed in. The room was large and very well appointed. The location, just 2 minutes from the beautiful beach is perfect. The food, at both breakfast and dinner, was high quality, varied and interesting and always good quantities. We used the gym and spa - both of which were excellent and the outdoor pool and gardens are immaculate. You might read some reviews about flies and birds, but these were just minor irritations. Nothing significant at all. Get over it - its a tropical island after all. Cape Verde is developing, and some parts of town are a bit of a building site. But again, get over it. Its developing. Plus you don't really have to leave the luxury of the resort anyway. Finally a word about the staff. Just wonderful. This is not a cliché. They were endlessly helpful, cheerful, smiling and always working hard. We'd like to especially name check Mellody, who greeted us with such a helpful, warm smile every morning on our way to breakfast. Exceptional staff. So having started off with not being quite sure what to expect, we can conclude by giving the highest possible recommendations.😃"
