Meridian Hotel

"I can write right at the beginning that we are totally disappointed. We expected much more - from the hotel and from the country!! The hotel looks very good and modern from the outside, and the lobby area was also nicely furnished. But we did not feel welcome right from check-in. No nice greeting, the lady at the reception gave us our room cards and explained two different Wi-Fi networks, but she \"forgot\" to mention that it costs money outside the lobby. Upon request, we received a packed lunch, since mealtime was already over. Apple, egg, sandwich. Now to the room: It was a large room with a balcony and city view. At first glance, it seemed clean. Well, except for the window panes. In contrast, the bathroom was actually very small. So, somewhat larger people can almost not use the shower, it is that small. When washing your hair, you bump into everything. The small shelf in the shower still had blue soap residue from the last guest. These were still there even when we checked out after 14 days!! The room was mopped a few times, the beds were made daily.... But so disastrous, nothing was smoothed out, everything always full of wrinkles. And it was only freshly made once, at my request. One already had no desire anymore to lie down in this lovelessly made bed. Towels and toilet paper were brought daily, and the trash can was emptied. But in these 14 days, the sink, the mirror, the shelves, the floor in the bathroom, the shower, or the toilet were not cleaned even once !!! Nothing !! It was very annoying that there is no shelf or ledge by the sink, so all creams, lotions, etc. stood around the basin. And because a lot of pressure came out of the faucet, everything was always splashed wet. A shelf would have solved this problem. Furthermore, many traces of mold could be seen on the edge of the basin. The next annoyance was the hair dryer. The handle became so hot during use that one could almost no longer hold onto it. Very dangerous. The cleaning lady was nice and tried hard, but the quality of the work leaves much to be desired. Now to the food: We found the food to be only mediocre. Often it was only lukewarm instead of hot. It was varied, but not quite to our taste, sometimes bland, sometimes oversalted. We were not exactly thrilled by it, but we were full with our half-board. For breakfast there was a good selection, cereal, fruit, various breads, sausage, cheese, eggs, waffles,... Now to the staff: Only one word comes to mind for that: Catastrophe!! In our opinion, there was far too much staff in the restaurant. Someone was constantly coming by; it was impossible to eat in peace. You were still on your last bite, and they already wanted to take away your plate and silverware without a word. It was almost never asked if you were finished and if they could take the dishes away. Sometimes they reached across the entire table to clear...with their arms over our plates of food...unbelievable. We asked them several times not to do it, and in the end, we ate outside the restaurant at the tables in the hallway by the elevators to have some peace. The music was also a bit quieter there, which was also much, much too loud in the restaurant. The management or hotel leadership absolutely needs to pay attention to who is hired and what the staff looks like. We found it an imposition that the female staff walked around so unkempt....terribly greasy hair, in dingy leggings and jackets, or in very short shorts. That should not happen in a 4-star hotel. Everyone walked around very unfriendly and grumpy. Then there was an older lady who constantly walked through the restaurant with a dustpan and broom and swept while the guests were eating. That is just not acceptable. And the dishes were constantly being driven away with carts...totally annoying and loud and mostly unnecessary, since only a few items were on them. The tablecloths still had the same stains for days; we never saw a tablecloth being changed anywhere. You always had to get the silverware yourself. The staff did not need to do this work either. Drinks were never offered; we were also never asked if we wanted to drink anything. And we never saw anyone drinking anything in the restaurant. On our second to last day, we were even chased away. We had finished our breakfast and were in conversation with other guests who were leaving shortly after, when we were very loudly and unpleasantly asked to continue our conversation elsewhere, as the staff needed to be able to eat their breakfast there in peace... That must be a joke... we were treated so miserably by the staff the entire 2 weeks, and then they need peace to eat breakfast!! Just unbelievable. In the end, we were glad that we could leave the hotel and will neither return to this hotel nor to Bulgaria. We did not like this very unfriendly manner at all. We drove around a lot with our rental car, but everywhere there were only grumpy faces. We really travel a lot, but we have never experienced so much unfriendliness. It does not surprise us at all that there are so many abandoned hotels there. Anyone who has had such bad experiences once will certainly not return to Bulgaria. Yet the only source of income on the Black Sea coast is tourism, but they actually do not want to have anything to do with tourists at all. You do not feel welcome."

"So hotel was ok but food was bad and cold room not cleaned for 5 days when stay 14 days and all they do is mop floor give clean towel not change bedding staff are very rude . Restaurant 5 days before end of season one chef instead of 6 chefs when first got there .food went down hill bad then The night staff stand at door as if you not might to be there The whole hotel stinks of sewage they have big problem same as rooms"

"We went in July 2023 and 2024 and really enjoyed our stay here we went for 1 week the pool is great good staff food selection is good something for everyone u can walk to the town from the hotel good entertainment really enjoyed it"
