"We’ve just spent 8 days here, and it was our first stay at this hotel. It was amazing and before I say anything else, I would highly recommend it to anybody.
Our journey began when we arrived at Burgas Airport, which went smoothly and was a very quick process for us. We were told by TUI that we would be travelling to the hotel by coach, but we were put on a small minibus instead, presumably because there weren’t enough people for a full coach.
The only issue with this was that the driver found it really difficult to fit everyone’s cases into the back/boot area. He had to push and slam them in with quite a lot of force, which I completely understand he couldn’t really help with as they simply weren’t fitting any other way. Unfortunately, this resulted in one of the built-in security locks on our suitcase completely snapping off.
Anyway, we arrived at Alua Helios Bay at around 4am and were greeted at reception by a really friendly lady. She gave us a bottle of water each and directed us to where some light food had been laid out for us, which was great and really appreciated after travelling. We then found our rooms quite easily.
We had two rooms for our group size, and when we booked our holiday with TUI, we requested a high floor with the rooms close together. We were really happy to find that we were on the 5th floor, which worked out perfectly for us, and our rooms were only three doors apart, which was amazing and highly appreciated.
The superior room was brilliant and so spacious, and the view from my room was absolutely lovely. The cleaners also did a great job every morning.
The beach is absolutely beautiful and really big, and I still can’t believe how close we were to it. It’s a stunning hotel and location.
The shops took us around 4 minutes to walk to, even with three children under 7, so they really weren’t far at all. There was a small supermarket as well as lots of other little shops and stores.
We went on the horse and carriage ride from the park and really loved it, so I would highly recommend doing this. It costs either €30, €40 or €50 depending on which route you choose, but it was definitely worth it. The horses looked in immaculate condition and very well cared for, which was lovely to see.
There are lots of parks locally to venture to, as well as one on-site. We walked around 14 minutes to the local town square, which you can find by putting ‘Площад Свобода’ into Google Map.
At the hotel, the kids’ pool with the slides is lovely. The tiles next to it really are quite slippery, though. I told my son to walk slowly lots of times and he still managed to slip, although thankfully he was absolutely fine.
My 5-year-old daughter had a chocolate massage by a lady at the spa, and my mum had an aloe vera massage by a man. The lady was brilliant with my daughter and made it really enjoyable for her, especially as it was her first ever massage. My mum said the massage she received was the best massage she has ever had, so I would also highly recommend having a massage done here.
There are some little rides for children both on-site and a short walk away, which take euro coins, so this is worth knowing if you have children with you.
The food was always good and varied. I’d say it was quite basic, but it was still good and there was always plenty to choose from. For me, one of the biggest highlights was the cakes, fruit and ice cream section!
The park was great, although it would be nice to have a light there so children could still use it around 8pm when it starts getting dark.
Please note that the beach is a public beach, so it isn’t just people staying at Alua Helios Bay who use it. The sunbeds on the beach also belong to the hotel next door, so you will be asked to move if you use them. You may be able to pay to use them, although I’m not 100% sure about this.
We came from 11th September to 19th September, so we were here towards the end of the season, but there were still plenty of shops open.
We also did Khan’s Tent, with the transfer picking us up from the front of the hotel, and this was truly amazing. Again, I would highly recommend this evening excursion! The staff were all lovely, welcoming and so easy to talk to.
Overall, this has been an incredible holiday. It’s a truly beautiful place, and we are so sad to leave. I had no doubt that we would want to come back, but after this holiday I know we will be back as soon as we can. My children absolutely did not want to leave! They also loved the children’s entertainment discos which were from 8:30pm until 9pm.
Thank you so much to everyone at this hotel who made us feel welcome and helped make our holiday so special! ❤️
*ps- if you’re thinking of staying here and you have children, please do not leave them unattended around the pools, this was actually terrifying how many children under 7 were left completely alone around the children’s pools whilst the parents sat at the adult pool completely out of sight, please be more responsible and supervise your children. Please also do not allow your children to urinate in the pool, on the slides or on the floor where other children are walking.
It is completely disgusting and extremely unhygienic. During our week here, I witnessed the same three boys, from different families, doing this multiple times, and their parents were never anywhere to be seen."
