"I WILL CHABGE MY REVIEW ONCE THIS HAS BEEN SORTED.
We stayed 3 nights. The style of the hotel is lovely, the lady on the front check in desk when we arrived on the 18th was lovely, and the hotel appeared to be clean.
EasyJet never gave a check in time. We arrived at 11am and wasn’t able to check in until 2pm. We sat in the restaurant (very tired as had very little sleep at the airport hotel the night before)
We didn’t really feel welcome in the restaurant It seemed they didn’t want us to sit in there presumably as I was using my laptop due to having an assignment due in for uni the next day. We ordered food and drink, we were never asked how it was, but I would like to say the soup we had was so spicy I couldn’t eat it and I do like spice. My husband forced around half of his down before giving up. The table next to us seemed to be well attended, but I had to ask for them to take our bowls in the end and for the desert menu. We then had to flag them down for another drink and for the bill. Again not asking how anything was.
The breakfast we had Friday was good and service was much better.
The room we were given was beautiful, but it did not match the description of their junior suite. I wouldn’t have been overly worried if they’d been double booked, but I don’t like being gaslit and told I am wrong when easyJet and their own website state the amenities in the junior suite which were not present in our room. I will provide screen shots from both websites and the video of our room as part of the review. Again I will reiterate that our room was beautiful, just not what we paid for. I didn’t really pay much attention to this until our last night, which only came about due to poor service in the restaurant again! (I booked the room a few months ago and only knew I booked the junior suite)
After arriving back to the hotel Friday evening around 10.20 we went to the bar to get a ‘hot toddy’ before going to our room. The night porter asked if we were guests, which we were. He said the bar is still open, however, when we went in, the girls were cleaning up and said we needed to sit by the bar as they were closing so we asked to take it to our room, when we placed our order and we were told they can’t do it as the coffee machine was off as they’re closing. When we got to our room our info sheet says the bar shuts at 11pm. (We were told in the phone since that hotel guests were able to sit in the bar until 12am!)
Obviously I was quite annoyed after being out all day and wanting to have a drink before we headed back home in the early hours. I went online to find contact details to let someone know what happened, when I stumbled on a picture of the junior suite. It says all rooms are different which is fair, however, our room didn’t look quite as luxurious, which was booked as a junior suite. The amenities state there is a dining area on the website and fireplace on the easyJet website where we booked. All pictures of the junior suite include a dining area and a fireplace. Neither of these things are overly important, other than we have paid for the junior suite and have instead had a Luxe double.
We have went tto speak with the night porter straight away, but he was very cagey when we asked which room was the Junior Suite. He wanted to know why we were asking.
The night porter tried to polish over this and say it is one of three Junior suites, but it has neither of the extra mentioned amenities in it. We also didn’t have any fresh milk. We did buy our own, but the mini fridge isn’t cold enough to keep it more than a day, so it was wasted.
This isn’t what we expected at the end of our trip in Edinburgh, as other than the reception in the restaurant on Wednesday our stay had been good until our last night. The night porter apologised when we checked out at 5am.
We had very little sleep on the last night as there’s was a lot of banging. The other nights were ok, perhaps the noise was due to it being a Friday night.
Location is good as there are regular buses to take you basically anywhere you wish to go!"
