"We have just returned from a stay here as part of a group of 11 travelling across three separate family bookings, and unfortunately this was not the holiday experience we expected.
I’ll start with the positives because there were some.
The location is excellent. You can walk all the way to both Marmaris and İçmeler along the beautiful seafront promenade, or take a water taxi for around £5 per person. We even saw dolphins swimming in the sea outside the hotel, which was a real highlight of the trip.
The coffee bar, ice cream bar, hot snack bar and boba tea/milkshake cart were all fantastic and probably some of the best parts of the hotel. The waiting staff and pool bar staff worked incredibly hard throughout our stay and were always friendly, helpful and polite.
Unfortunately, the positives were outweighed by a number of significant issues. The sunbed situation was also extremely frustrating. There were signs displayed stating that sunbeds could not be reserved before 8am, yet by 7am many had already been claimed with towels and then left unused until late morning or even after lunch. This was never enforced, making it difficult for families who actually wanted to use the pool facilities. We were also concerned by what appeared to be poor pool supervision. On one occasion, a parent had to jump into the main pool to assist two children who were clearly struggling in the water whilst the lifeguard simply watched, which was alarming to witness.
The biggest concern was cleanliness. Throughout our stay we repeatedly felt that hygiene standards were not where they should have been. The splash pool at the water slides was visibly dirty, tables and cutlery on the restaurant terraces were often unclean, and public areas generally lacked the level of cleanliness expected from a family resort. We also encountered cockroaches in bathroom areas, which was extremely concerning from a hygiene perspective. Even more alarming, we found large earwigs with pincers in the bed on more than one occasion, leaving us constantly checking bedding before allowing the children to get in.
We personally witnessed guests vomiting around pool areas and within restaurant areas during our stay, which was extremely unpleasant. Several guests were openly complaining about illness and, most concerningly, four members of our group of 11 developed symptoms of a vomiting and diarrhoea bug during the final two days of the holiday. One child became so unwell that they required hospital treatment. Given the number of people affected and the hygiene concerns we observed throughout the resort, this had a major impact on what should have been an enjoyable family holiday.
The food in the main restaurant was disappointing overall and I would rate it no more than 2/5. Much of it was lukewarm rather than hot. The exception was the BBQ grill station, which was generally very good because food was freshly cooked and served hot.
The hotel itself is showing signs of significant wear and tear. Around the pool areas there were damaged or missing tiles, uneven surfaces and slippery flooring. We would not recommend this hotel for anyone with mobility issues, pushchairs or anyone unsteady on their feet. There are steep steps, curved staircases and changes in level throughout the resort, making access challenging.
Check-in was chaotic. We arrived late at night and it took almost 20 minutes per family to check in. Reception staff were not particularly welcoming or helpful, and after the lengthy process they were unable to locate our room because it wasn’t even marked on the hotel map.
Our family room/bungalow was one of the biggest disappointments. It felt damp and had a persistent unpleasant smell throughout our stay. The bedding often felt damp, likely because the room had very poor ventilation. Every time we showered, moisture built up throughout the room and nothing dried properly.
The room had numerous maintenance issues including broken drawers, windows that did not lock properly, non-functioning air conditioning in one section of the room and heating that did not work in the other. Being on the ground floor, the broken and insecure windows were particularly concerning.
The bathroom design was frankly dangerous. The shower flooded the bathroom every single day, requiring us to use towels to mop up large amounts of water to stop our children slipping. There was also a raised stone step/door threshold into the bathroom which posed a trip hazard at night. We ended up leaving lights on overnight so the children could safely find the toilet without falling over it.
The room itself was also not cleaned to an acceptable standard. When we arrived there was dirty clothing left outside our room by previous guests. The floors inside were so dirty that after walking barefoot our feet were black. We ended up wearing disposable slippers around the room, particularly after showering, because we didn’t want to get into bed with dirty feet.
One of the other families travelling with us had an even worse experience. A mother travelling alone with two children was allocated a room in the main hotel that genuinely felt like a converted storage cupboard. It was located off a stairwell amongst cleaning and storage facilities. On arrival the lights didn’t work and she was told to use her phone torch. She had no towels and only a sheet on the beds. During the stay the door lock failed completely, leaving her locked out until maintenance attended and effectively had to force entry.
Guest behaviour was also questionable at times, particularly regarding hygiene around pools and restaurant areas. Whilst this is not entirely the hotel’s fault, it did contribute significantly to the overall experience.
Overall, this hotel has the potential to be much better because the location is genuinely lovely and many of the staff work incredibly hard. However, poor cleanliness standards, the apparent spread of illness within the hotel, maintenance issues, accommodation problems and the handling of guest concerns left us feeling very disappointed.
Sadly, we would not return."
