"Our experience at Novotel Brainpark Rotterdam was pretty disappointing. The bed/mattress and sheets were comfy, but the pillows were pretty useless…no support. Requests for better ones were simply given more of the same low quality. There was no room service — I was told they don’t have staff to provide it. When the restaurant was closed, the only options were crisps, sweets, and beer from the lobby shop. With no nearby restaurants or shops, this was especially inconvenient late in the evening. Breakfast was very limited, especially for vegetarians, and service was rushed. In the evening, we asked front desk and housekeeping for utensils that should be part of the room’s coffee cups but we were told to go down and get them ourselves because no staff could help and attend to it. This is unacceptable for a hotel in the hospitality industry. It seems some aspects of the hotel could do with improvement. The lobby entrance sensor is malfunctioning, the elevator is slow, and staff seemed indifferent (perhaps more training on hospitality being an international chain?). Our bathroom had a noticeable sewer smell and wear on the door. The room acoustics were poor (could hear loud banging from above room when we walked in). Even the lobby toilet was not properly maintained. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations for the cost. We were underwhelmed and surprised that this hotel carries the Novotel name."

"The hotel was in a great location, which is close to Erasmus university and not too far from public transport, as it allowed a day trip to explore Rotterdam. The room was modern with a nice bathroom and tv, room was clean and tidy. Also, food in the restaurant was good and tasty. In general, we had good stay at the hotel and at a reasonable price."
