A design hotel in a central spot
Housed in the former headquarters of the Dutch newspaper De Tijd, in the historic Binnenstad neighbourhood, Ink Hotel Amsterdam Mgallery honours its heritage with its décor and tells its guests that more stories are yet to be written here.
The restaurant also pays homage to the hotel’s former incarnation, aptly named Pressroom Amsterdam. It serves a buffet breakfast every morning and then switches to a la carte dishes for the rest of the day. If you’re in Amsterdam on the weekend, look out for the brunch option. The adjoining bar is a lively spot in the evening (this neighbourhood is a renowned nightlife area) with a great cocktail menu.
The rooms are modern and cleverly designed to maximise space, even the hotel’s smallest classic rooms have creative nooks and crannies. Superior rooms have open bathrooms with a vanity in the centre of the space (don’t worry—the loo is still behind a door).
A small fitness centre is open around the clock, or you could head out early for a jog in Binnenstad, where you can explore Dam Square and the Royal Palace before the crowds, then return for that lovely buffet spread in the Pressroom.
