"The greatest asset of this hotel is, without question, its exceptional location. It is perfectly situated for exploring Amsterdam, and the charming historic character of the building adds to its appeal. The reception area is clean, welcoming, and the staff are friendly and helpful throughout the stay.
The breakfast is simple but perfectly adequate, offering fresh bread, croissants, boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, juice, tea and coffee. It is not extensive, but it provides a pleasant start to the day.
That said, the guest rooms are extremely basic, especially considering the price. I appreciate that accommodation in Amsterdam is generally expensive, but I do feel the rooms would benefit from some thoughtful improvements.
During our stay the temperature reached 33°C, and the lack of air conditioning made the room almost unbearable. A portable fan was provided, but unfortunately it was so weak that it made virtually no difference. I would strongly encourage the hotel to invest in proper, high-quality fans—or ideally air conditioning—as this would transform the guest experience during warmer months.
The rooms are also missing a few simple amenities that many travellers appreciate: there is no kettle, no drinking glasses, and not even a waste bin, which was rather surprising. Housekeeping is provided every three days rather than daily, which is understandable, but the room facilities could certainly be improved.
One additional observation concerns the staircases. While we had no difficulty using them, they would greatly benefit from a thorough deep clean. There is a noticeable months - build-up of dust in the corners and along the edges, which detracts from an otherwise charming historic property.
Finally, during periods of extreme heat, it would be a lovely gesture to offer guests complimentary chilled drinking water in the reception area. Such a small touch would make a significant difference and would be greatly appreciated.
Overall, this hotel has enormous potential thanks to its unbeatable location and pleasant atmosphere. With a little investment in guest comfort—particularly effective cooling, a few essential room amenities, and more attention to the cleanliness of the staircases, it could provide a truly outstanding experience."
