Amsterdam Lake Hotel

"I recently stayed at the Amsterdam Lake Hotel for two nights, and it was a massive disappointment. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is that the reception staff is very nice and friendly. Unfortunately, they proved to be completely unable or unauthorized to actually solve any problems. The room I was put in was extremely stuffy: there was no window and no air conditioning, and very small. The air was hot, and not healthy because of no ventilation. But the worst part was the unbearable noise. There was a constant, loud rattling noise coming from the ceiling that continued throughout the afternoon, evening, and night. I walked down to the reception at least eight times on the first day to report this. Eventually, a receptionist came up to the room with me. She heard the noise herself and immediately confirmed that it was absolutely not normal. However, they couldn't move me to another room because they were fully booked, leaving me with no choice but to stay there. I took about 20 videos over the two days where the noise can be clearly heard. When I confronted management about this afterwards, my complaint was simply brushed off. They stated that their maintenance worker 'heard nothing during the day' and acted as if nothing was wrong. Hard video evidence and the confirmation from their own reception staff were completely ignored. I barely slept for two nights. If something goes wrong, management leaves you completely out in the cold. I absolutely do not recommend staying here."

"Booked through Booking.com but multiple disappointments in 1. - According to booking.com the local fee (pay at the hotel) should be 2 Euro. I paid 17 Euro. Still no solution until now (stay was early February) - The room as advertised was great. In reality I got the SMALLEST possible room - The TV did not function well It was a terrible experience and I felt really bad. I would absolutely disadvice to go here, especially when booked through a Partner Program."

"Came to Amsterdam for my brothers 18th birthday I had booked the delux double room with window We have been put in a room underground with no windows and room is in an absolute disgrace I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy to stay here So if your thinking of staying here DONT! 1* IS TOO MANY!"
