easyJet holidays expands partnership with Conservation Collective to support biodiversity in Greece, Turkey and Cyprus

25th Feb 2026

easyJet holidays has announced the expansion of its partnership with environmental charity Conservation Collective, reinforcing its commitment to biodiversity conservation across key Mediterranean destinations.

Following a successful first year delivering measurable environmental impact, the renewed collaboration will support conservation initiatives in Greece, Turkey and Cyprus. The partnership forms part of easyJet holidays’ sustainability strategy, Holiday Better, which aims to make more sustainable holidays mainstream.

Having taken over 3.1 million customers on holiday last year across more than 100 beach and city destinations, easyJet holidays is focused on protecting the environments and local communities that make holidays so special.

In 2026, easyJet holidays and Conservation Collective will support locally led environmental projects through:

  • Cyclades Preservation Fund (Greece)
  • Turquoise Coast Environment Fund (Turkey)
  • Cyprus Environment Foundation (Cyprus)

The initiatives focus on marine ecosystem protection, endemic plant conservation, and tackling invasive species, helping to safeguard biodiversity while enhancing tourism experiences for customers.

Protecting Posidonia Seagrass in Greece (Santorini and Mykonos)

Posidonia seagrass plays a critical role in marine biodiversity and carbon storage, while naturally filtering the Mediterranean’s waters, creating the iconic blue-green seas that holidaymakers love. However, these vital habitats face increasing threats from anchoring damage, marine pollution and rising sea temperatures.

easyJet holidays is partnering with the Cyclades Preservation Fund to:

  • Provide educational training and sustainability materials for hotel partners
  • Offer customers ‘Snorkelling with Posidonia’ experiences in collaboration with local dive centres
  • Raise awareness of marine conservation among visitors and local communities

Safeguarding Endemic Wildflowers in Antalya, Turkey

Turkey is home to extraordinary biodiversity, with more than 12,000 plant species, including 773 endemic to the Antalya region. Many of these species thrive within the fragile ecosystems of Beydağları Coastal National Park.

Through the Turquoise Coast Environment Fund, easyJet holidays is supporting volunteer scientists from ANTOK to protect these habitats by combining:

  • Scientific research
  • Environmental education
  • Community engagement initiatives

The programme aims to enrich the visitor’s experience while inspiring both travellers and local communities to play an active role in protecting Turkey’s natural heritage.

Tackling Invasive Marine Species in Cyprus

The Eastern Mediterranean is experiencing rapid ecological change, with more than 1,000 invasive marine species entering through the Suez Canal. Cyprus remains on the frontline of this transformation.

Native fish stocks have declined by up to 60%, while invasive species now dominate some catches, many of which are edible but routinely discarded.

Through the “Fish the Alien Phase II” initiative, easyJet holidays and the Cyprus Environment Foundation are supporting MER to:

  • Connect fishers, chefs and hotels
  • Introduce invasive species into local menus
  • Protect marine biodiversity
  • Enhance sustainable dining experiences for holidaymakers

By turning an environmental challenge into an economic opportunity, the initiative supports both ecosystem resilience and local livelihoods.

Matt Callaghan, Chief Operating Officer at easyJet holidays:

“As a major European tour operator, we have a responsibility to protect the people and places that make our holidays so special. In its first year, our partnership with Conservation Collective has already delivered measurable impact across three key destinations.

“That’s why we’re pleased to extend this collaboration as part of our Holiday Better strategy, focused on making more sustainable holidays mainstream. By supporting these brilliant organisations, we’re helping drive real impact on biodiversity in Greece, Turkey and Cyprus, ensuring the places our customers love are preserved for the future.”

Jade Brudenell, Executive Director, Conservation Collective:

“Our first year rising to the challenge of bringing grassroots conservation into mainstream tourism has been energising. Partnering with easyJet holidays has opened the door to a wide audience, allowing us to showcase incredible locally-led conservation initiatives and helping travellers to protect the places we know and love. From raising awareness of the ecological benefits of Posidonia seagrass in Santorini to reducing plastic in hotels and on beaches in Menorca, momentum is building. In 2026, we’ll expand our partnership through a native wildflower education campaign in Turkey and training chefs in Cyprus to prepare invasive fish species, supporting the health of local ecosystems.”
