"We visited for 6 days, having stayed at the DB Seabank in the past, I was unsure what to expect from the Luna, especially as it is so much cheaper, and yes when I stayed at the DB Seabank I was on an All Inclusive, whereas at the Luna it was B&B. So, lets start with the hotel itself. On the main road up to Mellieha, I can't comment on the traffic noise as the road is currently shut. The front of the hotel gets the majority of the sun, if you want to use your balcony for sun bathing. It overlooks some farmland but is itself overlooked by the town of Mellieha, so there is a stunning view of the church. It's within minutes to both the wonderfully shallow bay of Ghadira and also rocky outcrops suitable for accessing the crystal, clear waters. The back of the hotel overlooks standard Maltese private dwellings (if you know Malta then you'll appreciate my comment). It also overlooks the indoor pool, which I understand can also be an outdoor pool when the weather is more pleasant. The accommodation is in 5 or 6 blocks, it seems that this complex just keeps growing and whilst there is work currently ongoing at the hotel, there was minimal noise and I mean minimal, I was only aware of any work when I looked out from my balcony (I was at the back of the hotel) or was sat on my balcony, but the noise was never continuous and like I say minimal. At the back of the hotel we had excellent views of the sea, bay and Red Tower with a bit of sun for an hour or two in the mid afternoon. There is a bar / lounge with evening entertainment, plus a big screen for those that didn't want to watch the TV in their rooms, which had access to Netflix, Disney etc, obviously you need your own subscription. In the reception area I noted a small book area and place to store luggage. We were in Block, which is where the in house restaurant and indoor pool are located. The restaurant also boasts a small bar area. In the pool there is a small jacuzzi, plus during the summer if the roof doesn't open up the doors to the pool do and extends onto a sun lounger area. The only thing I don't appreciate is that the restaurant overlooked the pool. The restaurant was used daily for breakfasts, which were really good. The variety included full English and Continental Style and everything was fresh, it was self serve buffet style including the drinks both hot and cold. There are stairs to all floors and small lifts (fit approx people comfortably) although I can see that in the summer you would get fed up waiting for the lift. To get to the roof pool from Block you needed to go to the reception, there may be another way but we never found it (but there is building work so some access was restricted), however, signage could be improved to direct guests to areas within the hotel. There is a minimarket under the hotel, access is at the back, but you can go through a tunnel to it, where you'll also find a diving centre. Vehicles can be hired using bar codes found in each room and we used Drifters from Mellieha who delivered and picked up from the hotel and the car was clean and functional. The room we booked was the standard twin studio. Very spacious, clean and comfortable. We didn't eat in the room so never used the amenities but there is a hob and what looked like a mini oven (I didn't explore this. The fridge was useful and a good size. Water obviously is drinkable on the island so we refilled a water bottle or two and kept in the fridge. There is a table to sit at if you want to eat in, the complex does offer room service as well. There is a sofa area that can become a bed. The mattresses were comfortable and there is extra bedding when the night was chilly. Good wardrobe and hangers proportion but minimal drawers. Each room comes with a safe (free of charge). There is a TV, as already mentioned. Individual lights for each bedside. Good blackout curtains. The rooms have shower was provided as standard and come with the obligatory smallest towels ever. The outside pool is on the roof and if you're slightly unsteady on your feet make sure you have some one with you as there are no rails to hold onto to get in and out of either the outside pool or outside jacuzzi. In the summer months, you can access a bar and also have food up there. I couldn't really fault the hotel, except for the handrails at the poolside. The location is great, there's good eateries within 2 minutes walk and also up the road, accessible by bus or Bolt. The bar was well stocked. The staff perfectly pleasant and I'd stay there again."
