Handy spot for exploring Malta's east coast
A Maltese village on the edge of San Gwann town, Kappara isn’t quite coastal, but it’s only a fifteen-minute drive from the palm-lined Valletta Waterfront and six minutes from the buzzy town of St Julian’s.
If you’re planning a beach day, you’ve got a couple of good options. The soft sands and emerald water of Balluta Bay near the Sliema promenade is closest, but you might be more tempted by St George’s Bay – a lively spot where you’ll also find Malta’s nightlife district.
Kappara doesn’t just make a good base for beaches and nightlife. With the capital close by, you can use Kappara as a springboard back to the 16th century when Valletta was built, exploring impressive historic places like St John’s Co-Cathedral and the imposing Grand Master’s Palace.
