"A really nice hotel in Montparnasse which is great if you need to be on that side of town. Great restaurants around the hotel (avoid Le Maine Cafe across the road - truly terrible). I stayed 6 days. My room was on 7th floor and it had a huge private balcony, with amazing views and a great space to spend an evening relaxing with a drink. It was at the back and I could see many wonderful attractions in the distance and felt far away from the noise of the street at the front. It was bliss. Be very careful stepping in from the balcony, to the bedroom, I had a pretty bad fall the first evening. Very large bathroom (although strangely laid out). Great space in the hotel room itself, for me it wouldn't work as a double but was perfect as a single use space. European 4 star hotels in major cities all have smaller rooms than you might find in newer countries such as the USA so this was a pleasant surprise. Filter water is delivered every day and is very welcome (although warm because of the fridges not working). Device power sockets seemed quite weak and it took a while to charge up devices but that's not a big issue, as it still works - you just have to plan your charging. Breakfast was surprisingly good, with fresh eggs anyway you want them and many other selections. If you are spending a day sightseeing, you could really power up on protein and carbs. Breakfast staff's attentiveness varies, so try and work it out for yourself. Reception staff were very nice. 2 major areas of complaint are the broken fridges. My fridge was plugged in and operating but didn't work. I spoke to some people at breakfast and in the elevator who told me that this was a very common issue, so no point reporting it to room service. They said that they had just unplugged the fridge as it was only adding to the heat in the room; which is the other complaint. Air conditioning is limited to 19 degrees but room felt more like 22-23 and the conditioner seemed to just move air around. I left the windows onto the balcony open overnight which helped but was awoken by a couple of wasps in the room in the very early morning. Outside it reached 26 degrees and the experience became very uncomfortable. If I didn't have the balcony, I would have checked out. I understand that some hotels are on the tightest of margins however adding just a few euros to the cost of the room to enable air conditioning to be fully accessed would make a world of difference. If you are someone for whom a cooler room is a must, you will not be happy here. Also, internal fire doors are desperate for lubrication, the hinges are the loudest creaking I've ever heard. Again, fellow travellers confirmed this on their floors. I asked the room service man to oil them but he didn't seem to understand, which is fine, my french language is not brilliant. Would I stay here again? Yes, if I had to be on that side of town again, however, it could only be in the winter months to avoid the overheating in the rooms - and the fridges would need to be fixed and I would definitely need my 7th floor balcony room."
