Acra Hotel – Excellent hotel, but very disappointing salon experience
Six months ago, I stayed at Acra Hotel with my husband to celebrate our anniversary. We absolutely loved the hotel — the service, atmosphere, and overall experience were excellent and truly five-star.
During that stay, I had my hair done by a hairdresser at the hotel. I had clear trim bonding extensions, and I was extremely happy with the result. The work was professional, comfortable, and the extensions lasted over six months, which says a lot about the quality. I promised the hairdresser I would return again.
Four months later, I rebooked flights from London and travelled back with my whole family, which cost a significant amount of money. Unfortunately, I could not stay in the hotel this time, so I stayed nearby. However, after arranging it with Guest Relations, I was allowed to use the hotel facilities, including the salon, specifically to have my hair done again.
Sadly, I was informed that my original hairdresser was no longer there and had moved to Morocco. He recommended another hairdresser working at Acra Salon inside the hotel. Trusting the hotel’s reputation and standards, I agreed.
Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing. Instead of the same method I had before, my hair was done using beads, which caused immediate pain. My scalp became swollen, the extensions started coming off, and the work did not even last one day. My head was sore and uncomfortable, and the damage was clear.
I sent the hairdresser a video showing the condition of my hair and scalp. He agreed that the work was not acceptable and said he would refund my money. However, he is now asking me to send my personal ID documents, claiming he will send the refund via Western Union. This has made me very uncomfortable and concerned, as this is not a professional or appropriate request.
I find this situation very upsetting, especially given the high standards and reputation of Acra Hotel. Experiences like this can discourage loyal guests from returning, which is a shame because the hotel itself is truly excellent.
To be clear, I would happily return to Acra Hotel again — but I would never use the salon based on this experience. I simply want my refund for a service that caused pain, damage, and did not last even a day.
