"Came home today after a week’s stay on half board basis. It is an adult only hotel. The hotel was only at one third occupancy having only reopened in December. This was to our advantage as it meant no issues with finding sun loungers in the morning. However, people still put out towels to ensure they got the beds with all day sun. One side of the pool is generally in the shade but there’s a lot of beds to the side of the restaurant too. There are a variety of loungers, singles, doubles, (Bali beds at a cost), and low spongy doubles which are placed like terraced houses so you literally would be able to roll on to other guests; good for groups of friends I guess! All loungers are good quality and comfy. There aren’t parasols to each couple though, so be aware you may need to move for more shade unless they plan on putting more parasols about as the season gets hotter.
The weather was beautiful 5/7 days. Other 2 days overcast with cloud but not uncomfortable. For the first week in February I’d say that was pretty good going. When it was hot, it really was hot!
Rooms, lounge, restaurant and grounds are decorated very well and have a very calm feeling.
The entertainment was a bit hit and miss but then they’re trying to please all tastes. The duo ‘B&B’ were fantastic and would have loved them to be on every other night. Very talented and got the guests up dancing.
There’s very little to see or do in the area but the sea crashing against the volcanic rocks is mesmerising. You’ll need to walk down the road to witness this. There’s a couple of mini supermarkets around the corner plus a couple of cafes for lunch. Otherwise you have to walk to the Hard Rock hotel shopping area which is up and down hill. We walked there (downhill) and got the bus back; only a couple of stops but saved our legs! The bus stops at the top of the road to the hotel and also goes on to Costa Adeje.
Food: I always find this a tricky subject as it’s so subjective. Breakfast had an amazing choice of food, hot and cold. No complaints there. Dinner was what I call the usual buffet fare. I try to stick to the freshly prepared items of which there was a good variation. Always 2 choices of fish or meat on the griddle and a joint on the carvery. There were multiple dishes on hot plates of the casserole/stew variety and generally one or two variations of paella. There was a vegetable stir fry station and a pasta station so you’d be hard pushed not to find something to eat. Not forgetting two different choices of soup each evening. However, haute cuisine it isn’t! Most things could be hotter; even the soup. Desserts were uninspiring and the same as most hotels - must all be supplied by the same company! I stuck with fresh fruit which was always available. However, I would add that they didn’t skimp on smoked salmon, Serrano ham and cooked unpeeled prawns. I even saw caviar. Some were at breakfast and others as starters for dinner.
I enjoyed their sangria and my husband enjoyed the wine. As we were half board we didn’t sample everything going!
The staff are all a happy bunch, friendly and welcoming. I was sad not to say goodbye to Conchi, our morning waitress today (she deserved a morning off!), who greeted us with a smile a giggle and ready and willing with tea and coffee. She and her colleagues each morning made breakfast a pleasure. Sitting outside in the morning was particularly delightful.
Take no notice about the few shacks and caravans on the land on the slope as you look out to sea. You still have an uninterrupted view and I didn’t see anyone on the land at all throughout the week. This land will no doubt be developed at some point as it occupies a prime position. There is nothing disturbing going on there.
One half of the main pool was heated! Joy of joys! I swam every day. Very comfortable temperature. Thankfully there was no music around the pool area except for one daily water activity. There is another separate pool, an infinity one, which is for club guests only. I dislike this two tier level at hotels. It’s unnecessary. The area was empty bar a couple of guests daily. What a waste! What’s the point? Open it up to everyone and just let people pay for upgraded rooms, meals and drinks if they wish. People like to mix at hotels and this prevents that. I’m not impressed by this at all.
Please management take note that the music in the buffet restaurant needs to be changed to ‘chill out’ music as the very poor blues music with a repetitive loud beat was awful! I know I wasn’t the only person who hated it. To have that constantly looping was migraine inducing.
Another note to management: you are aware of the trip hazards regarding the troughs filled with stones throughout the pool and walkway areas. I sadly tripped up on this uneven surface and landed heavily on my arm and side. Fortunately a staff member came to help me up and another noted my room number 12404 to log the accident. My arm was badly grazed and the fall could have been a lot worse. Please reconsider this arrangement for health and safety purposes. A grille of some kind may not look as pretty but it would make the flooring even and level ensuring your visitors safety.
All in all, we had a wonderful week here and hope people reading this can visit before it gets too busy."
