"This is a truly fabulous hotel! A new favourite. Very stylish, cool decor. Good central location on a quiet street. Appreciated the room upgrade as an IHG member. Well appointed room with quality linen, coffee machine, robes. Very comfortable. Fresh linen daily and turndown service. Rooftop pool and bar was a nice experience for lounging on a sunny day. Poolside music was quite loud and not very relaxing but that was the only very slight criticism. Enjoyed the social hour with complementary wine. Provides a nice opportunity to meet other guests. What really made this hotel perfect was the staff. Every single person we encountered went above and beyond. Friendly, warm characters, a relaxed vibe but really efficient and helpful. They all do a brilliant job! Thank you. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Barcelona now. Can’t wait to return again one day."

"We arrived early in the morning, well before check-in time (3pm). I did book though American Express and was entitled to 12 noon check-in when available (it was available because it’s winter in Spain and very quiet). We were told that our upgrade (when available) wasn’t available because the next level, up from what we booked, was a suite. I would point out that at Anantara in Rome, we got upgraded to a suite . I was quoted €150! to upgrade to a suite and that sounded pretty good… €75 per night to upgrade to a suite. We were allotted the type of room we booked and told that the suite would be cleaned and ready, hopefully earlier than midday. At 12:30, I called reception to be told that the resident in the suite was insisting on his 4pm checkout and the suite wouldn’t be ready until 5pm. This was after my wife and I got into bed because the room was very cold. We basically waited more than 3 hours to be told that we couldn’t have the suite until 5pm and we were expected to pay €150 per night. The room already cost us over €800 for 2 nights. We eventually discovered the reason for the room being cold… when I pulled back the curtain I discovered that the window had been left open. €400 per night doesn’t seem like good value, when compared to the same price to stay in a suite in Anantara. Our room was fairly small and triangular. The clothes storage consists of open shelves. The bathroom has a bizarrely shaped shower with a tiny inlet under the rain shower and a large area for the waist level hand shower. Clearly designed to discourage long showers. Our toilet had the large flush button non-functional and the cistern continued to make noise all night as it continued to fill in spurts every 5 minutes. To their credit, the hotel fixed the toilet whilst we were out and gave us a €32 bottle of champagne and an apology letter. The hotel is very noisy. Noise comes from the street below and from within the hotel itself as inconsiderate people yell and talk loudly and slam their room doors. For the price, I expect that the Sofitel, for example, rates more highly on Bookings.com would be better value as their room rate is about €150 per night cheaper. I would like to acknowledge Olga, the concierge who was very helpful booking restaurants and bus tickets. Nico at reception was polite, but I feel that his communication regarding the suite was suboptimal. I can’t understand why they didn’t offer us the suite for €150 for the 2 nights because there is no way that they had anyone staying after 5pm for the full price. Overall, this was a very disappointing hotel stay. Not recommended."

"Delightful hotel in an excellent location for sightseeing and shopping but most of all, the staff were friendly and offered exceptional customer service through my stay. Highly recommend the Kimpton Vividora."
