"Buckle up, this review will be a long one.
It started weeks before traveling to Barcelona. We were on a big family trip (4 double rooms) with 2 kids, and since the family suite was not available, we wanted to make sure the kids would at least get a room right next to their parents. We tried to contact the hotel via email through Booking.com, but they wouldn’t answer our questions. We then tried to call them about six times, but each time they became frustrated (we assumed because of a language barrier) and simply hung up on us.
Upon arrival, the room situation wasn’t sorted as expected, and the parents had to sleep in separate rooms (each with one kid) because they gave us rooms on different floors. The rooms smelled of weed, which was very strange for a 4-star hotel with supposedly good ventilation.
Throughout the week, the key cards kept stopping working, and we had to run to reception every time to get them fixed. We tried their breakfast buffet once — it was okay, but the coffee machine/hot water wasn’t working, and the waitress was very rude when we asked for the problem to be fixed. She seemed annoyed that she had to fetch us hot water from the kitchen, and then she rudely asked if we had paid for breakfast (as if we were going to eat and leave without paying 😆), even though we had already booked breakfast at reception before heading to the dining area.
The cleaning staff were nice, I must say, but they often failed to restock toilet paper, tissues, or hand soap until we asked for them.
The last straw came on the early morning of our departure day. We had to leave for the airport at 6 a.m. and woke up to a complete electricity shutdown, which they couldn’t fix for more than 2.5 hours. That meant showering, getting dressed, finishing packing, and making sure nothing was left behind — all in complete darkness. We couldn’t close the room doors behind us because we wouldn’t be able to get back in, so one of us had to sit in the hot, dark room while the other used their phone light to bring the luggage to the lobby. The only person at reception was completely overwhelmed, unable to reach management or maintenance, and left alone to face all the angry guests. We left without so much as an apology, and they didn’t even offer to waive the charge for the one poor breakfast we had.
Other than that: the location is really inconvenient for tourists — Uber often took 20–30 minutes to confirm a pickup in that area. The beds aren’t very comfortable (though that’s a personal preference).
Bottom line: Never again. I don’t recommend staying at this hotel. They need to drop some of those stars because they cannot seriously call themselves a 4-star hotel."
