"I have traveled to Marrakesh previously so know what to expect, the back lanes can be grotty but this was more than that with poles down and live wiring hanging loose, the signage for the riad is bad, it points to another door which is not the entrance and confused everyone especially arriving late in the dark! We were welcomed by a nice young man and booked in, no offer of refreshments then shown our room which was not the room we thought we had booked. It was cramped dark and dinjy with a tiny area with two hangers. There was no water in the fridge. In the morning I told the manager we were in a room we hadn’t booked, the room I thought we booked was on the next level and was empty but he wouldn’t move us and was very unhelpful! So having to stay in the room we were given I was tearful and I’m not a drama queen, it was next to the “ river view” which is a small pool but I expected that, it was a few meters away from the reception so it was constantly noisy, breakfast that morning was horrible and I’m not fussy! The meat was like a pink flip flop even the wildlife wouldn’t eat it! The cheese was processed rubbish, the pancakes were like rubber there was nothing hot, half the bowls were empty and were not re filled and they finished early! The sofas on the top level were gross and it was all very run down! Back to the room the shower took ages to get warm then ran hot and cold! The shower gel was empty! The toilet felt like it was coming off the wall when you sat on it, towels had holes in, pillows were stained, room was so dark I had to keep using the torch on my phone! There’s mood lighting but this definitely wasn’t that I looked like I’d put make up on with a stick! As for reading the welcome pack
Or fire instructions good luck, you’d be burnt alive by the time you’d got light to read them! We booked an excursion along with a family we met through easy jet, what we wasn’t told is that they’d be 5 stops in the way there where we’d be taken to various locations ie shown how traditional Moroccon pottery is made, then how traditional rugs are made etc etc where we’d be lambs to the slaughter and heckled to buy withon an inch of our lives! The whole idea of the excursion was to escape this for one day, I know to expect this in Marrakesh but we thought a day out to the mountains would give us a days break! NOT SO! We stayed for 4 nights and I was counting down the hours until we left! There was workmen in in our last day, we had no notice if this just trying to chill out on the last day when they started with the drills then saw a workman’s head pop up at our room window! There was no privacy at all with chairs at the pool right outside our room and people constantly coming and going, if you’re a couple forget any intimacy you feel like you’re constantly being watched and heard! On check out we paid 260 dh tax which I knew about as I’ve been to Morocco before as I said but it’s an insult after such a horrible stay! Then he charged us for two cans of pop we were told would be in the house as there was no water for us in our arrival! This is the first bad review I’ve ever wrote as I don’t like moaning but I really feel other people need to know about this place as I don’t wish anyone else to be as upset and disappointed as I was! People work hard to pay for breaks away and don’t expect to be in tears! The staff initially seemed welcoming but as time went in we discovered it’s fake! Please don’t book here there are plenty of other riads available in the same area I would have stayed in the one I was in in my previous visit if it hadn’t been fully booked! Please do your homework before booking I did this through a travel agent this time as normally book it myself and I won’t be doing that again as it’s been a horrible experience and feel we were poorly advised and mis sold “ the dream holiday” when it’s actually been a nightmare and are now left trying to get done kind of refund. The last few pictures I’ve put up are the room we were given, vs the pic of that room on the website and the last one is the actual room we thought we were getting!"
