RIU Palace Tikida Agadir

"What can I say. I might be generous with a three star rating, but that is because the experience is so variable. The room was ok, but the air conditioning was completely ineffective. We had a problem with the only socket in the bathroom which took 6 reports to Reception to get fixed. On the last day, the shower did not drain causing a near flood in the room. Maintenance could not fix it so we were offered another room to shower in, but only for the evening, not for the following morning until I gave the duty manager some 'feedback' when I was allowed to retain the key for the morning. The main restaurant is surprisingly good, as was the Krystal, however the service at the Moroccan and Steakhouse is quite laughable with the Moroccan rushing you through like a McDonald's and the Steakhouse incapable of providing an acceptable level of service. There is no option to order a desert after your main meal because the order has to be taken at the start. Riu really need to look at this hotel and decide whether they want it to be in the 'Palace' category, and if they do they may need to consider whether the proliferation of VERY young staff actually have sufficient experience to deliver acceptable customer service. The evening entertainment is truly poor and on the last night, so bad that there was literally nobody watching in the theatre. On the plus side, the hotel is clean and the grounds well maintained."

"I tried to help one sick cat at this hotel. There are many well and happy cats and the guests all play with them and adore them After offering to pay for the cat which was sick and requesting some support with a box the hotel responded they have called the government to exterminate all the cats I will never stay here again and what would have been a nice holiday has been ruined by the hotel acting they way they have"

"The hotel is beautiful. Amazingly decorated and really quite stunning upon entry. We could not fault the staff, everyone was genuinely friendly and seemed happy to greet us when we saw them. Many other hotels we’ve been too, you can tell the staff put on a bit of a pretense but the staff here are absolutely lovely. Rooms are great and spacious and authentically decorated. However, there was a constant smell of damp. Rooms were cleaned and restocked very well each time. We didn’t like the entertainment at all but we’re not ones for sitting and watching hotel entertainment each night anyway. During the day they do aqua aerobics and some bingo and darts but it’s not very lively. We were happy to chill around the pool but it’s not the place to go if you want a bit more of a party or energetic vibe. The clientele were generally 50+ years although some families and kids too. One thing that I feel lets this hotel down is the food. The 3 on site restaurants were poor and some of the food was tasteless. They food in the buffet restaurant was very same-y and breakfast was worse. There was a huge selection of food but not of great quality. We needed up eating out for evening meal most of the holiday unfortunately. Overall our stay was lovely and we can’t fault the staff, but it wasn’t a 5* hotel. Probably more like high 3*/low 4*. But we had a great time and the staff out a lot of effort into making the hotel run so well. Thank you!!"
