"We are currently staying at the Riu Palace Tikida Agadir and, overall, it is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. The grounds are well maintained, the pool area is excellent with plenty of comfortable sunbeds, and the hotel has direct access to the beach. The rooms are spacious, clean and attractively decorated, although it would be helpful to have power sockets closer to the mirrors for guests using hairdryers or straighteners. There are many positives. The bar service throughout the hotel has been excellent, with attentive staff, fast service and good quality drinks. The speciality restaurants are also a real highlight, offering fantastic food, excellent service and beautifully designed surroundings. Unfortunately, the hotel is being let down by failures in some basic areas. The lifts nearest our room have been consistently out of order throughout our stay, which has been inconvenient and disappointing for a hotel of this standard. Housekeeping and room replenishment have also been inconsistent. The minibar, tea and coffee supplies in our room have not been regularly refilled, meaning we have repeatedly had to contact reception to request replenishment. While the items have eventually been provided, this is something guests should not have to chase during their holiday. The biggest issue has been the main buffet restaurant. The staff there appear to be working incredibly hard but are clearly overstretched and often seem to be running from one task to another. Breakfast service in particular has been poor. On many occasions there have been no clean cups, cutlery or place settings available, and dirty dishes are frequently left uncleared on tables. We have now been here for over a week and on seven of the eight mornings we have not been offered tea or coffee without repeatedly asking for it. The evening service suffers from similar problems, with long waits simply to place a drinks order. If the hotel cannot consistently provide the table service it insists on offering, it should seriously consider introducing self-service tea, coffee and drinks stations. This would likely improve the guest experience considerably. There also seems to be a lack of clarity regarding the rules about where food from the buffet restaurant can be eaten. During our stay we have regularly seen guests taking plates out of the restaurant to eat elsewhere. However, when our 12-year-old son attempted to take his meal from the buffet back to our room after the rest of the family had eaten in one of the speciality restaurants, he was spoken to to in a manner we felt was unnecessarily abrupt and discourteous by the restaurant manager and sent back into the restaurant to eat alone. This was upsetting for him and left a particularly negative impression. If food is not permitted outside the restaurant, the rules should be clearly communicated and applied consistently to all guests. While there is much to like about this hotel, the ongoing restaurant issues and inconsistent attention to basic guest services have made what should have been a relaxing holiday feel unnecessarily stressful. For guests who place a high value on smooth, attentive dining service, this may not be the best choice. However, with better organisation and staffing in the main restaurant, more consistent housekeeping standards and clearer communication with guests, the hotel could easily live up to the high standards suggested by its beautiful surroundings and excellent facilities elsewhere."

"I would strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to book elsewhere (and NOT a RUI hotel). Our stay included a cockroach in our room, suspected food poisoning that left my partner bedridden for two days, poor-quality food, terrible service, and a missing watch that management showed little interest in investigating. The hotel is badly run, with dirty tables left uncleared, sunbeds reserved before breakfast, and staff who seem attentive only when tips are involved. The evening entertainment was embarrassing, consisting of poor karaoke, basic Kahoot quizzes, and amateur performances, while the zero sound proofing in the rooms meant there was no escape from the noise. To make matters worse, the location offers very little outside the resort, with no decent restaurants or attractions nearby. If you’re unhappy with the hotel, there is nowhere pleasant to escape to. This hotel falls far short of its advertised 5 star standard and was one of the most disappointing holidays we have ever experienced. Save your money and book elsewhere."
