Hotel Palas

"Booked through Saga-a first for us. The offer by Saga of free collection and delivery home swung it for us, no taxi, no car park charges or fuel, and no maniac drivers round the Manchester ring road. Saga have a dedicated rep at the hotel, Dragan, who speaks very good english, and is available should any issues arise. The only thing is the usual european bias regarding food, so as long as you like salads and fruit you will love it. Beautiful scenery, friendly locals, decent public transport. We paid a bit extra for a proper sea view with balcony , it was well worth it. Would suggest book a few trips with the Saga rep, fantastic history and as yet, not over-touristy if you avoid the peak months of June, July, August. The icing on the cake for us was being collected upon our return by Domonic, in his BMW 750 SERIES EXECUTIVE, just amazing and the very nicest man you could ever wish for to drive you home."

"Firstly. DO NOT GO. We went with SAGA at considerable cost all inclusive. Everything the previous reviewer said is true. There were food issues in abundance with cases of gastroenteritis. My husband and I were sick, and then stomach aches, salivating, bowel problems, only finishing 4 days after our return. We dod not report it. Dragan too tied up with less mobile, ill, and the U3 contingents. Ruined the holiday. Don't get injured as the first aid kit only contains cotton wool the drinks are copies..chivas regal 3 year does not exist. The drinks are chemical. Watch out liver! No beer except pool bar in plastic cups. Wine draught in refectory...hardly a restaurant. Could go on and on. I bet SAGA will not even consider a partial refund. Holiday ruined especially as stayed at hotel mostly....had to be near a toilet...just in case."

"So we would not recommend the hotel. On our floor, the hallway smelled either of cigarette smoke or frying fat. The balcony door could not be closed, so the air conditioning did not turn on either. It was fixed provisionally. There were still metal scraps from the doors that had fallen off lying on the balcony. The safe could not be closed; even after asking twice to have it fixed, there was no reaction. The room was not vacuumed the entire week, the bathroom was not really cleaned, and since wood kept breaking off the door frame, there were constantly pieces on the floor. This was only cleaned up when we pushed them into the middle of the room. The vanity was never cleaned, the toilet flush was leaking, which caused unsightly stains in the ceramic. Shower gel was not replenished; when we put the empty bottle in the sink so it would be obvious, it was taken away and not replaced. The food was really not good. On three days, there were exactly the same three dishes for lunch and dinner. The fish was always fried to death and hard. Side dishes were not under the heat lamp, everything cold, but that worked out well because apparently any salt or spices seem to be missing in the kitchen. We have really never seen anything like this before. We don't even want to talk about variety. Furthermore, you only got tap water to drink at lunch and dinner in the restaurant. You had no possibility to buy soft drinks or other beverages directly in the dining room. Unless you took them with you beforehand from the pool bar. Pool is nice, but unfortunately no one is responsible for cleaning up, trash everywhere, grass is growing out of the lounging areas, stone benches have collapsed, but for a long time already, because grass is already growing over them. Tiles at the pool entrance were coming loose, were not glued back on, which would certainly have been possible quickly overnight. Indoor pool was very gross, also the windows have not been cleaned for a long time. What can I say, maybe nice 30 years ago, not anymore now. Water damage everywhere, and very dingy. So stay away from it, we are not exaggerating."
