Had a Seaview room which was overlooking Buggiba square which is being rebuilt at the moment with work starting 7 am but will only be a short term problem. The main problem was the bar opposite playing loud music until 2 am"

"My wife and I had a 12-day holiday at the Ibis Styles St Pauls Bay in late September 2025. The hotel is modern, with 10 stories, including a ground floor with reception and breakfast facilities. The tenth floor features a sun deck, pool, and bar. The remaining eight floors appear to have eight rooms each, suggesting a total of 64 rooms. Our room was spacious with a small balcony, perfect for relaxing. Although the view was of other buildings, this was typical for hotels away from the beach. The beach was just a five-minute walk from the ibis. The walk-in shower was large and included a seat, and the air conditioning was one of the quietest I’ve encountered and is easy to set. The bed was large and very comfortable. The only issue with our room was the safe. While easy to operate, it sat at the bottom of the wardrobe, which was a bit challenging for me to reach as I find at 73 it is no t easy to bend/get down on the floor. Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Ibis. The modern and comfortable rooms were a big plus, but the exceptional staff made the experience even better. I can’t thank Andrea enough for her help with settling in and throughout our stay. Alice was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Daniela and the cleaning staff ensured our room was spotless every day. The pool, about 20 metres long, comfortably accommodates two people swimming lengths. We were slightly disappointed with the size of the pool. However, compared to other hotels, with rooftop pools, ours was a reasonable size. Interestingly, the top floor is adults-only, a trend other hotels have adopted. Samir, our main server, made excellent cocktails, the best my wife has tasted in a while. I usually drink whiskey, and there was a reasonable selection that I enjoyed. On one occasion, when Samir wasn’t around, David proved his cocktail-making skills. The hotel kindly provided entertainment twice a week: a singer one night and a film the other. Delicious nibbles were also provided for free. If you haven’t been to Malta before, it offers a lot. Daily tours are available, and within walking distance of the ibis, there are many excellent restaurants. Thanks to Alice, we discovered the Rusty Spoon (turn right outside the hotel, walk 100 metres down the road, and it’s on the left). It cooked the best fresh fish my wife had eaten in years. A 10-minute walk away is an amazing and highly interesting car museum that both my wife and I spent a couple of hours exploring. The Malta National Aquarium, a 15-minute walk along the coast road, is well worth a visit for adults and children. If you can go on the behind-the-scenes tour, it’s really interesting. We were lucky enough to watch the sharks being fed! If you’re looking to spend time on the beach, 50 metres beyond the aquarium is a pleasant beach where you can hire umbrellas and loungers for a relatively small amount. There’s also a pleasant cafe close by."
