Gillieru Harbour Hotel

"The worst holiday ever from day 1 to the final day awful on the Wednesday most of breakfast was cold and there was no chocolate yogurt. When you pull the plug out the whole wall thing comes with you . At 7:30 am there was drilling and banging which woke many guests up . The main problem for me was that the bar closed at 9:00 pm what bar shuts at that time disgusting. One more thing the pool was empty from day 1 me and my dad wanted to go swimming as we always do on holiday but couldn't as there was no water in the pool .Me and my family will not be returning and will be expecting a response"

"just returned from a long weekend and the online pics do not represent what you see , the lovely pooldeck with all the loungers with outside bar and seating area are all closed and under re construction, room are a little dated and our balcony was tiny, breakfast was a little disappointing , the breakfast room was ok but had to dodge the builders smashing the paving up and the route was covered in broken cement, the food was in metal barrels and unless you got there as the food was delivered it quickly went cold as the heat source was a teacake candle underneath, their web site states 3 bars ?there is only 1 and that shuts at 9 pm, what annoys me is there is no information about building works on hotel website or Jet2 s website who we booked with otherwise i would have choose a different hotel, also most of the streets around the square where main bars and restaurants are being redeveloped and closed or dug up ! loved Malta but will come back again when its finished reconstruction"

"We stayed at this hotel for 10 days from March 2nd to 12th room plus BB. The breakfast was faultless with plenty of choices. I think the only bugbear was the toaster,it took forever 🤦The rooms were basic but clean with a maid service every day. The lighting was poor on the bedside lamps and one of them was hanging. The staff were friendly. We had a balcony,very small,overlooking the harbour but below us was building work where they were renovating. Couldn't sit outside for the noise and the dust. The pool was closed until the end of May,so nowhere to to sit or lie in the sun. Outside the hotels main reception, there were a few seats about but not enough for everyone. The area around the hotel was just like a building site with loads of repairs and digging up of roads etc. Pavements were tricky for walking,cracked and uneven. The location of the hotel wasn't a good choice for restaurants. Of the two across the road,one was open. We did find a Chinese restaurant, The Blue Whale, which was lovely . We did use public transport to get about which was very cheap, €2, and went to Valletta which had more to offer without the building site! Not somewhere I'd go again."
