"This is what I would call an old-fashioned hotel (although it is currently being refurbished), which I rather like - not too much techy stuff in the room which I find annoying after the novelty wears off. The grounds are spacious and attractive (lots of flowers) with a superb view of the sea. Reception staff are friendly and helpful: we were already in Malta before staying at the hotel and they kindly organised an earlier check-in plus an upgrade (due to my husband's Discovery status). We had a large sea-facing suite with 2 balconies - a small one with chairs and a large one with sunbeds. This was lovely as I am not a sun worshipper so could keep cool in the shade at all times. We went to the day spa and brought pool towels up to the room for the sunbeds, not a problem. The bed was huge and very comfy with lovely pillows and the a/c was very efficient so we slept well except for our last morning when renovation work in the hotel started before 7.30 am, which was annoying. We had heard work going on but normally it was at a sensible hour and was not intrusive. My husband went to the adult pool a couple of times and had no trouble getting a sunbed, it wasn't too busy. Breakfast was very good and there was lots of choice. You could get coffee from one of the machines or order a latte, for example, from the staff. There was only one morning when it was busy and I think it was a combination of it being Mothering Sunday (so maybe people had stayed the weekend to celebrate) plus it was too windy to sit out, so virtually everyone was inside, making it quite difficult to find a table. The lobby area is large and cool and was always buzzing with guests and visitors when we were there. The Pearl Lounge is located here and is currently being used as the executive lounge (you just give your room number and sign a zero cost chit at the end of the night). The staff here are excellent - friendly and attentive - and the food and drinks were good quality. We also had a "proper" meal here after we had checked out (to help pass the time before heading to the airport) and it was excellent: good-sized portions, well presented and very reasonable for a 5 star hotel (we regretted our decision to eat one night at Don Royale, the food was much better at Pearl Lounge). The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk down the hill to lots of bars and restaurants. There is also a bus stop very close to the Verdi hotel next door, where you can jump on a bus to Valletta: we used it to go to Mdina. The only negative I have about the hotel - and it is not the hotel's fault - is the monstrosity that is being completed behind it (the Hard Rock Hotel, due to open this summer according to the billboard). I have no idea how this got through planning and I for one think it is a huge mistake as it will flood an already busy area with even more people. The resort areas of Malta appear to be struggling already to cope with the volume of tourists (especially when one of the huge cruise ships docks), the traffic is at a virtual standstill at certain times of the day and it is sometimes a struggle to wade through the crowds on the streets. Corinthia St George's may end up being a little oasis of calm in the area!"
