Plaza Regency Hotel

"I had one of the worst hotel experiences of my life at Plaza Regency Hotel and would not recommend it to anyone. Before arrival, I paid extra to upgrade from a single room because I specifically wanted to avoid the dark internal-facing rooms. My booking confirmation clearly stated double/twin room with street or garden view, yet upon check-in I was given exactly the type of room I tried to avoid: a dark room facing the internal lightwell. When I complained, the receptionist claimed my booking came through as a single room request, even though my confirmation showed otherwise. Another couple before me had the same issue, but their room was changed immediately. Mine was not. The manager then explained that the hotel supposedly does not have a “double/twin room” category because double and twin rooms are booked separately. Honestly, this sounded like an internal issue between the hotel and Agoda, not something a guest should suffer because of. The staff repeatedly claimed the hotel was fully booked, but later Agoda informed me that another room was available only if I paid extra. Eventually, the hotel refused to change my room at all, even for an additional payment. I spent hours exhausted in the lobby waiting for Agoda responses while the hotel staff showed no empathy or willingness to help. The overall attitude of the staff felt rude, dismissive, and focused only on taking more money from guests. The only positive part of the hotel is the rooftop pool and sun terrace. Overall, this hotel does not seem to care about guest satisfaction or hospitality. I also overheard another guest complaining loudly to the manager about how they were treated, so clearly I was not the only one with problems here. Avoid this hotel."

"Lovely hotel, very clean , even though it’s 3 star you wouldn’t think so. Comfortable beds, studio room is well equipped if you’re going self catering."

"This was my second time staying here after spending a week here two years ago. Once again I had a fantastic experience. I was in room 525 overlooking the sea. It was a decent room with a great shower and nice balcony. My only criticism was I had two single beds pushed together and one mattress was softer than the other. Once again the breakfast was great and I loved the rooftop pool and bar. The location is excellent too, close for walking everywhere in the direction of st Julian’s or to the centre of sliema and the ferry to Valletta."
