Taormina

If you’re all about a central location, then look no further than Taormina – which will put Rome at your fingertips. From here the Colosseum will be just a leisurely 20-minute stroll away, while everything else will be within arm’s reach using the city’s stellar public transport system. There’s a tram stop just two minutes’ walk from the hotel, while the nearest metro is only five minutes away.

So where to after the Colosseum? The Trevi Fountain and the Spanish steps are about 20 minutes’ walk from there, or you could hop on a bus and shave a few minutes off. Heading to Vatican City? That’s just under an hour on the bus or on foot – up to you whether you feel like stretching your legs and moseying through the city streets, but it’s as good a way as any to explore Rome if you have the time.
