Novotel Athenes

"I booked 4 nights at the Novotel Athens, mainly because I am a silver member of All Accor. I am a regular visitor of Ibis Styles Palexpo Geneva, a 3 star hotel, and I always praise them for being so good. They would deserve a 4th star compared to the Novotel Athens, advertised as a 4 star hotel! The room was comfortable and clean but looked old and the bathroom smelled of sewage. Our bedsheets were torn. We had to refresh our demagnetized key card every day. They advertise their pool but in summer the pool is full of happy children: maybe the Management should do kids hours and adult hours to allow everyone to enjoy it. The small gym is filled with kids and parents, most of them do not wear adequate shoes, the floor is wet. The staff at the pool bar does not care much about customer service, even if you are entitled to a complimentary drink. The breakfast is ok, but the staff should keep up with the cleanliness of the space. And also bread was stale as it was a day or 2 old, and they don’t replenish their fruits choice. The neighborhood is another story. For children and female travelers, be careful especially at night. Regarding security in the hotel, normally and as advertised on the lift, you need your key card to access your floor. However this system is not in place and anyone can enter in the hotel and access the rooms. For sure, next time, I will not go back."

"Novotel Athenes was a comfortable & convenient base for exploring the city. The rooms were clean & welcoming, the staff were friendly & the rooftop pool & restaurant offered fantastic views of the Acropolis. A great choice for a relaxing stay in Athens."

"We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and it was perfectly fine - the staff are all very friendly and helpful and the facilities were good - the pool is an especially nice way to cool off after wandering the busy streets of Athens in the July sun! The hotel is situated on the outskirts of the city - we walked in and back from the centre every day without feeling worried or concerned about our safety. Admittedly, there are some less desirable streets as you walk in but walk with purpose and you’ll be absolutely fine. The breakfast buffet is especially good - lots to choose from and so fresh."
