Mercure Bordeaux Centre

"This hotel is located 10 minutes from the cathedral and a few minutes from tram stops. Don’t expect a romantic or aesthetically pleasing hotel. It is a brutal concrete block with no views - see photo. The walk to the centre is through a commercial area full of street drinkers and beggars. It would be daunting for solo female travellers. Our superior room was OK if you overlooked the standard of the painting which looked as though it had been done by one of the local drunks. Breakfast was very good ( as long as you avoid the cooked offering of fatty bacon and bullet like sausages). Cheese and ham were constantly replenished and all the buffet food was of a good quality. Staff were friendly and helpful and cheerfully stowed our luggage out of site on our final day."

"Immaculate room, ready upon my early arrival in Bordeaux at approximately 11am. Located about 3 mins walk from the tram from the airport (approx 35 mins airport - Meriadeck/hotel). The hotel is approx 8 mins from the edge of the old town (la Vieille Ville) and about 15-20 mins from the centre of the old town, making it a great location in my opinion. Little supermarkets are all around the hotel and a main shopping centre is directly opposite; equally are KFC, McDonald's, Paul (boulangerie). My package did not include breakfast at the hotel, but this can be bought daily onsite - pay at the breakfast room entrance: two options, including a half-price option for a smaller breakfast; perfect! My 7th floor room included everything you would generally expect, including a large TV, coffee machine and kettle, fridge for personal use and safe. Large bathroom. Very quiet sleep throughout the week. Definitely recommend."

"We just visited here and can't understand some of the negative reviews. We had a room (918) on the 9th floor and every staff member off staff (especially Anthony who checked us in) was accommodating, friendly, and professional, From the moment we checked in everything was great. There is a retro cool feel to the rooms and it was great to have a fridge and espresso machine! We even used room service for pizza and it was good. Yea, it's up a funny side street, however, it's close to the old town and within a 10 minute or so walk from everything. We would have no qualms about staying here next time we are in Bordeaux. We had a great experience here."
