Small village, big blue views
Mošćenička Draga is the Istrian Riviera at its most peaceful and pretty. Tucked between the slopes of Mount Učka and the clear waters of Kvarner Bay, this former fishing village is all pebbly beaches, little boats and sea-view strolls with the volume turned beautifully down.
Sipar Beach is the main draw, a long sweep of pale pebbles and turquoise shallows that looks tailor-made for lazy swim, sunbathe, repeat days. Follow the coastal promenade towards Sveti Ivan Beach and you’ll find more coves, old villas and that lovely Adriatic mix of pine scent and salty air. For a different angle, climb up to the hilltop village of Mošćenice, where stone lanes and big bay views deliver serious postcard energy.
Food keeps things classic and coastal. Expect grilled fish, scampi, seafood pasta, olive oil, local wine and relaxed restaurants where the sea is never far from the table. It’s quieter than nearby Opatija, but that’s the beauty of it. Mošćenička Draga’s perfect for a slower Croatian escape: beach days, mountain walks, seafood suppers and evening strolls by the harbour. Small place, very big exhale.
