A slice of paradise on the Italian coast
Tucked away on the stunning island of Ischia, Sant Angelo is a dreamy seaside village where time slows down, and relaxation takes centre stage. This former fishing hamlet, now a chic resort, is all about colourful houses, car-free streets, and jaw-dropping coastal views. If you’re after a romantic getaway or simply want to unwind in style, this is the place for you.
Sant Angelo’s divided into two parts; in the lower area you’ll find the marina and boardwalk, main square, and “La Torre”, a tiny islet attached to Sant Angelo by a narrow spit of land. In the higher section, you’ll see the Church of San Michele Arcangelo and cute, narrow and Insta-worthy lanes.
If you love the great outdoors, you can soak up the sun on Maronti Beach, take a boat to the thermal caves of Cavascura, or hike up Monte Epomeo for some killer panoramas. The area is famous for its thermal spas, thanks to Ischia’s volcanic origins – so be sure to take a dip in the healing waters of Giardini Aphrodite.
And for the foodies among us? You’re in for a treat. Fresh seafood, rabbit stew (Ischia’s specialty), and limoncello flow freely at the local trattorias. In the evening, enjoy a refreshing cocktail with a sunset view over the Tyrrhenian Sea – that’s amore.
