"I am writing to formally complain about our experience at Sandos Benidorm Suites, as several issues significantly affected our stay. Upon arrival at reception, we were happy to wait while the check-in process began and signed the required documents. However, for no reason at all, the receptionist had an attitude and had a sarcastic and rude tone with us. She talked to us like any question asked was ridiculous and she just wanted us to go away. Additionally, she repeatedly began assisting other guests and answering phone calls while we were mid-check-in, leaving us standing there for approximately 20–30 extra minutes. Again, this is when she’s SUPPOSED TO be dealing with us but she would just abandon our queries at any opportunity. Throughout this time she largely ignored us, did not guide us through the process, and did not explain any hotel information (facilities, activities, timings, or how anything worked). We had to figure most things out ourselves. While at reception, I asked to see the wellness treatment prices as this was something I was interested in booking. We waited a while to receive the list and it was very long due to the number of treatments offered. As the receptionist was busy and I did not want to queue again later, I took photos so I could review the options and decide afterwards. I was then told off for taking pictures without permission in a sarcastic and dismissive manner, which felt extremely uncomfortable and patronising. This was our very first interaction at the hotel and it immediately set a negative tone for the entire stay. Later, we overheard the same receptionist explaining everything very politely and thoroughly to another elderly couple, which made the contrast even more noticeable. I will also be posting the photos of the wellness price list so future guests can view them without having to experience the same interaction. Because of this interaction, I did not feel comfortable approaching reception again and therefore did not book any wellness treatments at all, despite this being one of the reasons we chose the hotel. It was also concerning that while I was reprimanded for photographing a price list, while other guests were openly discussing and offering cannabis to each other directly in front of the bar while children were present and apparently that was fine. In addition: • Activities were very limited and mainly targeted older guests; nothing was explained to us, meaning we missed some entirely and had to rely on the bartender for information. • Plates in the restaurant were frequently dirty on the underside, suggesting they had not been properly cleaned. • During our 4 day stay, on 2 separate days the water was unavailable between approximately 10am and 6pm, meaning we could not use sinks or showers for most of the day. To be fair, every other member of staff we encountered was very good. Some bartenders appeared new and occasionally made drinks incorrectly, however as we had all inclusive this was not a major issue for us. The bar team overall were friendly and welcoming, particularly Jeni who was excellent. I should note that whilst lovely, the male bar staff were a little TOO drunk on evenings which was sometimes discomforting. We didn’t mind to a certain degree as it’s a holiday and we’re all having fun but these guys perhaps had a little too much and acted drunker than us and other guests. The room itself was nice and we stayed in a superior suite, however parts of it were quite run down. We also observed cups being cleaned in the sink using a microfibre cloth, there was some dirt remaining on the floor, puddles of water on our counter, and there was chewing gum stuck on the balcony. That said, the cleaning lady was lovely and very friendly. We both have hospitality experience ourselves and understand busy environments, but the dismissive attitude, lack of communication, and sarcastic responses we received from reception were not acceptable and did not meet expected service standards. Unfortunately, this interaction overshadowed the positives and largely ruined our stay. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and reviewed internally."

"I travelled with my partner to the Sandos Suites in January 2026 booked as a package holiday. We had many a happy holiday here when it was the Flamingo Benidorm and that was our reason for returning. The hotel has changed ownership from the previous visit. Arrived at the hotel around lunchtime, the room was not ready and we were given our wristbands. Had our lunch in the restaurant and returned to reception and Claire went over all the information. We proceeded to the lift with suitcases to discover one lift was out of order and another guest told us, this had been the case for over a week. We got out of the lift on our floor to find bags of rubbish dumped in the communal area, not a good first impression. Our room was classed as a superior room and was on one of the top floors, it was spacious and had a kettle and a fridge. There was a large couch to sit on but the cushions were stained. The bedroom area had a small wardrobe to store clothes with no drawer space. There was a spare duvet in the wardrobe which was all stained and dusty. Put our bag under the bed but had to remove it straight away due to the thick dust under the bed. The bathroom was a decent size with walk in shower but there were stains on the wall from the previous occupants. Our first experience at the bar was not good, bar staff were rude and did not seem to be paying attention to what I ordered or other guests were ordering. Drinks were banged down at you on the bar. Drinks tasted disgusting, supposed to be smirnoff vodka but tasted more like a cheap brand which burned the throat. As others have said the attitude of the bar staff to paying guests is appalling. After a few days got fed up with their attitude and ended up going to the supermarket next door for our own drinks to consume, not good when you paid all inclusive. For snacks they had to be ordered at the bar and it was pot luck, ordered burgers and they never appeared, went back up and waited, when they arrived they were raw and could not eat them. On another day I ordered a toastie to be told, "No food". We gave up and ended up going to a nearby takeaway for snacks. The evening entertainment was ok, the usual quizzes, karaoke, or singers. Being Benidorm there is a wide variety of entertainment in the Calle Gerona or Calle Leptano area which we preferred to do. We found the cleanliness of the hotel to be of a poor standard. Our room was never cleaned properly during our stay, no mop and bucket with disinfectant was used on the room floor, it was filthy and sticky. In the bathroom, no bleach was used to clean the toilet pan, dirty towels were either picked up and put on the heater to be dried or just left lying on the floor instead of being changed. Our bin in the bathroom was not emptied and was overflowing, I suspect other guests experienced this issue and this is why rubbish was dumped near the lifts. We spoke to other guests who had a cockroach infestation in their room. After three days the rubbish near the lifts was eventually removed. A drink was spilled on our corridor and it took 2 days for the stain to be cleaned up. Went to reception to complain about the cleanliness and request fresh towels. The communal toilets were always in a mess, toilet pan soiled and seat marked with paper towels all over the floor. Could not use one cubicle in the gents due to a broken lock. In the restaurant, tables were not wiped between use, clean cutlery and napkins were placed on dirty tables and placemats. During our stay the food in the restaurant was good with plenty of variety for each meal. Dennis and Simeone were nice to speak to and would always have a conversation with you. The Indian a la carte restaurant was very good and was served to you. Being all inclusive there are some guests who drink to excess and cause a nuisance to other guests. The Select guests think they are superior to other guests and try to boss you around, although we did not book select we paid to stay at the hotel as well. Just told them to do one!. The location of the hotel may be difficult for the less mobile as its situated at the back of the resort. The hotel can be noisy, especially at night, paper thin walls in the rooms dont help either. In summary this was our first visit to the hotel since the flamingo hotel and it will be our last, gone right downhill. We love Benidorm but would never return to this hotel, as reviewer Bill said below. Stay well clear."
