Eyja Guldsmeden

"Loved the cool, edgy vibe of this smallish boutique hotel. The central area has check in, a bar and restaurant and is a great space to hang out. The room was nice, the breakfast was delicious - we stayed at 6 other hotels around Iceland on our trip and thus breakfast was the best. Their evening menu is a little limited but fine. Think the location isn’t as good as others but perfect for what we did, a late check in and then early morning start for our 6 day trip."

"A good place to stay for a reasonable cost by the standards of incredibly expensive Iceland. The lobby is warm and inviting, and the staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. The hotel was clearly converted from something else, perhaps a different kind of hotel or perhaps a student dormitory, since it has an unused outdoor walkway with outdoor stairs and a very 1960s exterior overall. The rooms (we stayed there at both the beginning and end of our trip) are overfurnished with too many knicknacks, throw rugs and pillows, and showed signs of age here and there — they also could use brighter lighting. But they were clean and comfortable, if on the small side, and just fine for a stay of a couple of days. We appreciated the fact that the hotel is away from the tourist bustle, but an easy (if hilly) walk from the center. A supermarket is just up the street, as was a very nice restaurant recommended to us by the front desk. We had their breakfast once, tasty with a lot of choices, but subsequently opted for the superb coffee place a few steps to the left down the street (Reykjavik Roasters)."

"We picked Eyja for our honeymoon in Iceland. It was just what we needed. Had free parking (which seems imposible in Reykjavík), very clean and comfortable rooms, great breakfast (not included but convenient. Walking to downtown is nice as well, its about 10min but its nice to experience the city walking. Laura checked us in and she was great! I would recommend Eyja to anyone going to Iceland."
