"I stayed at the Grand Hotel Reykjavík for a four-night business trip in late autumn, booking a standard room primarily for its proximity to conference venues and reliable Wi-Fi. Overall, it suited its purpose as a no-frills base for work-focused travel, but it fell short in ambiance, value, and amenities for the price point. Room (3/5):
The room, which lacked proper lighting, was undeniably spacious, with ample space for a desk, seating area, and luggage—ideal for spreading out work materials. The bed was soft yet comfortably supportive. However, a major drawback was the complete lack of an exterior window; my room faced an internal atrium, keeping it perpetually dark and cave-like, even during Iceland’s limited daylight. Service (4/5):
Check-in staff were excellent—efficient, professional, and quick to resolve a minor billing query. Wait staff in the restaurant and bar were very friendly. Dining (3/5):
The on-site restaurant delivered good-quality food, with fresh local ingredients in dishes like grilled char and lamb. Small portions and sauces were quite salty. The menu had limited choices. The breakfast buffet was average: a decent spread of breads, cheeses, cold cuts, and yogurt, but nothing memorable—no hot items beyond basic eggs and bacon, and it felt repetitive by day four.. Location & Surrounds (2/5):
The hotel is in an industrial area on the outskirts of central Reykjavík, convenient for business hubs but utterly lacking character. No scenic views, charming streets, or nearby cafes—it’s surrounded by warehouses and parking lots, requiring a 10–15 minute drive or bus ride to reach the city’s downtown. In summary, the Grand Hotel Reykjavík is pricey for what it offers and best suited for short, purpose-driven business stays where you prioritize space and basic functionality over luxury or atmosphere. If you’re in town for leisure or seeking a more inspiring base, look elsewhere in the city center. I’d return only if conference logistics demanded it."

"I was there for my son's wedding, and it was perfect. Staff was wonderful and very accommodating. Rooms were very clean."

"As a tourist without a car, I found this location inconvenient. It is an approximate 40 minute walk into the centre of the city where most of the tourism attractions, restaurants and shops are located. It is near busy major roads with only a few restaurants and shops within walking distance. There is a huge building project ongoing next door which is quite noisy during the day, however rooms on the other side of the hotel may be less affected than mine was. On the plus side, the hotel is modern and clean with spacious rooms and very comfortable beds."
