Fun and friendly family base

The Rodos Palace Hotel ensures you’re really well placed. With a privileged setting in the pretty resort of Ixia, it’s got a beautiful sandy beach on the doorstep, and historic Rhodes Town is less than a 10-minute drive away. As for views, you can count on vistas of the Aegean Sea on one side, and the green peaks of Akramitis Mountain on the other.

The resort really stacks up the numbers. This place is home to four swimming pools set among landscaped gardens, and five atmospheric restaurants for dining. Choose from international buffet spreads, Mediterranean set menus and Greek gourmet dishes. The bar scene is just as varied, with six watering holes to flit between for cocktails, including a swish lobby-lounge with a pianist and al fresco seating, and a sports bar with a big screen, pool tables and arcades.

Other shout-outs include a dreamy spa for treatments, plus a good sports line-up, which ticks off the likes of tennis and waterpolo. Little guests have a packed agenda hosted by the kids’ club and, after dark, the whole family can come together to watch shows and local Greek dancing, or to take to the stage for karaoke.
