Malaga comes alive in high summer (June, July, August), when locals and holidaymakers mingle on the beach catching the sun’s rays and swimming in the warm Med Sea. The shorefront chiringuito bars are at their best in these months, with al fresco tables spilling onto the sand and live music accompanying big plates of tapas.

Avoid the crowds

Malaga’s Mediterranean climate means it’s pleasant all year round, even in the coldest months of January and February. In fact, the spring and autumn months – although cooler than the summer months – are brilliant windows to visit in. The temperature can still hit the early to mid-20s, but the beaches and backstreets are a lot quieter.
