Perhaps Jersey’s foodie reputation has something to do with its rich soil, fertile farmlands and gentle climate. It’s certainly a reflection of its island status and the super-fresh seafood that surrounds it. Jersey’s thriving food culture embraces everything from bistros to beach cafés, fine dining to gastropubs and you’ll find quality everywhere you go, from the humblest café to Michelin-starred restaurants.

Jersey’s clear waters, warmed by the Gulf Stream, produce an abundance of top-quality shellfish, including crabs, lobsters, mussels, scallops and oysters. Sample the restaurants in St Aubin, Gorey and St Helier for Jersey plaice, sea bass, monkfish and mackerel.

The island’s prized Jersey Royal New Potatoes aren’t the only crop (but they really do taste delicious and different). There are lots of vegetables and fruits that are grown in the island, along with tasty, local dairy produce from Jersey cows, including rich milk, cream and butter, ice creams, yoghurt, crème fraîche and organic milk.

With hundreds of cafés and restaurants to choose from, you’ll never be far from a dining experience that can be tailored to suit your needs, from an intimate meal for two to a beachside café that is as family-friendly as it comes.
