’Tis the season: easyJet set to fly into its busiest Christmas on record
easyJet is operating its busiest ever Christmas getaway on record, with more than 24,600 flights taking off across Europe – up 10% compared to last Christmas.
The airline is set to fly up to 3.5 million customers across the peak Christmas and New Year period. The busiest days across its network will be on 26 December with 1,754 flights, and 2 January with 1,755 flights, carrying up to 263,000 customers each day.
In the UK, easyJet expects to fly up to two million customers on nearly 1,000 flights a day during the peak of the festive season, as many get set to fly from across the UK to spend time with loved ones, enjoy Christmas in the sun or ring in the new year in some of Europe’s most iconic cities.
Paris and Milan are proving to be the cities of choice, while Geneva, gateway to the Alps, is also among the top destinations as people hit the slopes at the start of ski season. Closer to home, Belfast is the most popular staycation for people travelling across the country, as they visit friends and relatives during the holidays.
For winter sun, the Canary Islands – including Tenerife and Lanzarote – remain firm favourites for travellers seeking to spend Christmas in the sun. Those looking to explore further afield are heading to Marrakech in Morocco and Hurghada in Egypt. easyJet is the largest carrier to North Africa destinations, operating 46 routes to longer leisure destinations across Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Cape Verde.
The airline is also operating its biggest ever schedule to the home of Santa Clause – Lapland – up 26% on last year – with up to 24 flights a week from eight UK airports, including London Gatwick, London Luton, Bristol, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, and for the first time ever, London Southend and Belfast International.
For those chasing the northern lights, easyJet offers direct flights from six UK airports to some of the best locations to see the natural spectacle, including Reykjavik and Akureyri in Iceland, and Tromso in Norway.
easyJet holidays is also on track for its busiest Christmas yet, with an increase of 19.37% customers on holiday over Christmas week (22-28 December 2025) than the previous year. The most popular destination is Tenerife, with Lanzarote and Costa Blanca also proving popular for a beach escape. For a city break, Paris, Amsterdam and Prague are the top destinations of choice with customers this Christmas.

The airline supports several local charities and has a corporate partnership with UNICEF which has raised over £17m for the most vulnerable children since it was established in 2012.
In 2022, easyJet published its roadmap to net zero by 2050. The roadmap, which also features a combination of fleet renewal, operational efficiencies, airspace modernisation, Sustainable Aviation Fuel and carbon removal technology, has set an ambitious interim carbon emissions intensity reduction target of 35% by 2035, validated by the Science-based targets initiative (SBTi). The airline’s ultimate aim is to fully transition its fleet to zero carbon emission technology, which it will achieve through a number of strategic partnerships including with Airbus, Rolls-Royce and GKN Aerospace Solutions. Since 2000, the airline has successfully reduced its carbon emissions per passenger, per kilometre by one-third and is the number 1 ESG rated airline in Europe by Sustainalytics, MSCI and CDP.
