• New research by easyJet reveals top 10 European escapes Brits can jet off to for the price of the UK’s average annual BBQ spend*

  • With flights to Lanzarote, Alicante and Lisbon from only £20.49, trips away including local activities can match or even beat the cost of a BBQ at home

  • easyJet’s ‘Book with Confidence Promise’ means flight and package prices will not increase after booking, ensuring families get the best value for their summer getaway

New research from easyJet has revealed that it’s possible to take a European getaway for the same cost as BBQ hosting. The average Brit now spends up to £384 a year hosting garden BBQs for family and friends

This rises to a staggering £513 among Gen Z, equating to £19 per guest, just 99p shy of the cost of a flight to Barcelona.

To help Brits looking to make their summer budget go further, easyJet has revealed the top 10 destinations where the BBQ spend could instead cover flights and a range of in destination activities – swapping grey skies and soggy sausages for a culture packed holiday abroad.

Leading the rankings is Lanzarote, with flights from £28.99* per person offering affordable beachside dining, fantastic coastal weather, and unbeatable value for this summer.

It comes as recent from easyJet revealed nearly three-quarters (72%) of Brits say the cost of hosting a barbecue has risen sharply over the past two years, while almost half (46%) feel the unpredictable British weather makes it a risky spend – making a European escape an increasingly appealing alternative.

Alicante and Majorca are also among the best-value destinations on the list, offering great value fares alongside historic old towns, stunning mountain landscapes, and vibrant local markets. Meanwhile, Lisbon, Barcelona and Berlin also rank highly due to world-class museums, iconic architecture, and dynamic culinary scenes.

"From sun-soaked beaches to laid-back city breaks, there's incredible value to be found across easyJet flights this summer. So before stocking up on burgers and buns, it might be worth checking our unbeatable range of flights across Europe and beyond to see how far your budget stretches."

easyJet and easyJet Holidays have introduced their Book with Confidence Promise to reassure customers on their travel plans. The pledge guarantees that flight and package prices will not increase in price once booked and confirms that easyJet intends to operate a full schedule across its network, despite competitors cutting routes, as easyJet prepares to fly over 50 million passengers this summer.
