19 June 2026: Adam has lived in Goole, East Yorkshire, his whole life, only taking his son on holiday to the British Isles. Today, thanks to his son Michael, that changed forever. The pair have been named winners of Capital Breakfast’s Drop Everything competition, winning an easyJet holiday [CS1] [HM2] to Majorca, leaving today, and the chance to share their first ever trip abroad together over Father’s Day weekend.

“I didn’t even think we’d get through,” said Michael. “We were just listening in the car and Adam said, 'Come on, let’s give it a go.’ And now we’re actually heading to Majorca. I’ve never won anything in my life and it’s just in time for Father’s Day which makes it even more special. I genuinely can’t believe it.”

The win caps a remarkable week, which began when Capital Breakfast presenter Siân Welby leapt into a cab mid-show on Monday morning after clocking a last-minute easyJet fare on her phone and swiftly exiting the studio.

Her ‘holiday dash’ filmed live, has been viewed nearly a million times across Capital, easyJet and her own social channels.[CM3]

For Michael the idea that a week that started with a radio presenter darting out her studio hundreds of miles away would end up putting him and his dad on a plane to Europe together for the first time was not something he had anticipated on a Monday morning.

“When I saw Siân leave the studio, I thought, I’ve always wanted to do something spontaneous like that. So, when the competition came up, I thought, why not?” said Michael.

The timing could not have been better. Father’s Day falls this Sunday, making this the most unusual and arguably the best Father’s Day gift.

Michael agreed. “I normally get him a card and sometimes even forget to do that,” he said. “So, this might top it. Can’t wait to get out there, a bit of sun, and maybe catch some of the World Cup.”

Sophie Dekkers, Chief Commercial Officer at easyJet, said: “There is something genuinely special and unforgettable about your first family holiday abroad, so we’re absolutely delighted to be making that possible for Adam and Michael this Father’s Day. With 35% of people planning to book their summer holiday last minute, we’ve launched Drop Everything to help make it easier to find and book a fantastic holiday this summer, whether it’s the joy of a spontaneous last-minute getaway or a last minute summer break, and we’re looking forward to taking millions of people on their well-deserved holidays.”
